Aljažev dom v Vratih - Rjavina (Tominšek route)

Access to starting point:
We leave Gorenjska highway at exit Hrušica and follow the road ahead in the direction of Kranjska Gora. Just a little before the village Dovje the road which goes to Mojstrana (Vrata, Kot and Krma) branches off to the left. We follow the road ahead in the direction of valley Vrata and we drive on that road to the large parking lot near Aljažev dom.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue on a macadam road which after 3 minutes of walking brings us to a crossing at Aljažev dom. We continue straight in the direction of Triglav, Luknja and Pogačnikov dom (right Škrlatica) on a wide path, which goes behind the chapel (on the right side) and Aljažev dom (on the left side) into a lane of a forest. A wide tourist - walking path past the winter bivouac brings us out of the forest, where in front of us we notice the famous wedge (monument dedicated to fallen partisans mountaineers). Here the mountain signpost for Tominšek route points us left and over the lane of gravel brings us into the forest. A well-made path starts ascending through the forest upwards. Since the path through the forest is in parts pretty steep they made some steps, which make walking easier. After an hour and a half of walking the forest becomes thinner, and the path brings us to the beginning of the climbing part of the path. During the ascent on a climbing part, we have fixed safety gear for help, which are in good condition (renovated in the year 2006). The path ahead is becoming more and more vertiginous and is steeply rising on the northern walls of Begunjski vrh. Because the climbing part of the path is exposed to falling stones the helmet is mandatory! After a good three hours of walking, the steepness decreases and the path joins the normal path over Prag. Only few steps ahead by the path, we notice a pleasant well where we can take a rest. The path ahead soon brings us to the next crossing, where we continue left in the direction of Staničev dom (right Kredarica). The path ahead leads on karst terrain, full of cracks and abysses (carefully). Higher, the path crosses shorter scree and then it ascends on a plateau terrain, where in front of us we already notice a mountain hut Dom Valentina Staniča, to which we only have some 10 steps of easy walking.
From Staničev dom we continue on the path in the direction of Krma and Rjavina. The path is at first moderately ascending, and then it brings us to the next crossing, where we continue left in the direction of Rjavina (straight Krma). The path then slightly descends and brings us on a small indistinct saddle Dovška vratca. From here ahead path starts to ascend steeply on the western slopes of Rjavina. With the help of some fixed safety gear path brings us on the ridge of Rjavine. Next follows a panoramic walk on a ridge to the western secondary peak, and then the path slightly descends and from the left climbing path from the valley Kot joins. We continue straight and more and more scenic path brings us to a vertical chimney, on which we descend a little less than 30 meters (secured only with iron spikes and stemples). The path which becomes easier then past two natural windows in few minutes brings us on a peak with a beautiful view.
