Dolina Ločnice - Polhograjska Grmada (via Robež)

Access to starting point:
A) From Ljubljana, Kranj or Vodice we drive to Medvode, from there we continue driving towards Sora. At the crossroad at the beginning of Sora, immediately behind the small bridge we turn left in the direction of Katarina and village Trnovec. Further, we drive through the valley of Ločnica towards Katarina (Topol), and we drive along it to the spot where signs for Tourist farm Robež point us to the right on a macadam road. Here we can continue straight and then after a few meters park at an appropriate place by the road, or we continue right in the direction of the mentioned farm and then park at an appropriate place by the macadam road.
B) First, we drive to Škofja Loka, from there we continue driving towards Sora. At the end of Sora we turn right in the direction of Katarina and village Trnovec. Further, we drive through the valley of Ločnica towards Katarina (Topol), and we drive along it to the spot where signs for Tourist farm Robež point us to the right on a macadam road. Here we can continue straight and then after a few meters park at an appropriate place by the road, or we continue right in the direction of the mentioned farm and then park at an appropriate place by the macadam road.
C) We leave Primorska highway at exit Brezovica, and then we continue driving in the direction of Dobrova and Polhov Gradec. Further, we drive through the valley of Gradaščica, and we follow the main road towards Polhov Gradec to a smaller crossroad, where a road towards villages Osredek, Topol (Katarina) and Belo branches off to the right (turn-off from the main road is located a little before the beginning of the village Hrastenice). When we get to the village Topol, first a road towards the village Belo branches off sharply to the left, and a little further signs for Medvode point us slightly to the left, on the road which gradually starts descending (through the village all the time we continue on the main road). The road then descends for quite some time, and we drive along it to the spot where a road branches off sharply to the left towards the tourist farm Robež. We can park already a few meters before the crossroad at an appropriate place by the main road, or a little higher by the macadam road which leads towards the farm Robež.

Path description:
From the crossroad in the valley of Ločnica we go on a macadam road in the direction of farm Robež. The road at first rises quite steeply, and then it brings us to the sharp right turn, where there are some appropriate spaces where we can also leave our vehicle. At the end of the turn a forest road branches off to the left, and we continue on a wider macadam road which for some time continues through the forest. Higher the forest ends and with nice views on surrounding hills we quickly get to tourist farm Robež.
A little left from the farm (looking in the direction of access to the farm) are wooden signposts for Katarina, Grmada and Tošč. From the mentioned signposts we continue right in the direction of Grmada and Tošč and past a fruit and meat dryer we walk behind the farm, where the cart track passes into the forest and starts moderately ascending. For some time we ascend on a cart track which mostly runs through the forest, and higher it leads us over a shorter panoramic slope, from which a view towards Grmada and Tošč opens up. The cart track soon returns into the forest, changes into a wide footpath, and it joins the marked path which leads from Katarina towards Grmada.
The path continues on and by the ridge of Lipje, and at first it leads past the NOB memorial plaque, a little further also past a nice vantage point, after that it mostly continues through the forest with some shorter ascents and descents. Such a path continues all the way to a marked junction approximately 15 minutes below the summit of Grmada.
We continue straight on the marked path in the direction of Grmada (left Setnica, right tourist farm Gonte). Further, the path in a moderate ascent crosses slopes slightly towards the left, and then it starts ascending steeply on the upper and in snow slippery-dangerous slope of Grmada. The steepness then decreases and the path brings us on the panoramic summit ridge of Grmada, from which to the top we have only a few steps.
