Between Trenta and Bovec in the village Soča, a road in Lepena branches off. This asphalt road we follow to a parking lot at the mountain hut Dom v Lepeni.
Path description:
From Dr. Klement Jug House in Lepena we continue on a wide marked path in the direction of Krn lakes. After few minutes of walking a wide and not too steep path splits into two parts. The left one which is a bit steeper is a normal way and right one less steep and longer is suitable for small children and the elderly. Paths cross each other few times and are mostly ascending through the forest until we get to the upper station of the cargo cableway. From the upper station of the cargo cableway, we continue on the same path that is gently ascending on the wide transport road that quickly brings us to the measurements of the snow (every year in April). From here the road starts to descend, leads us past the turn-off to Velika Baba and it quickly brings us to the next crossing where we leave the road and continue down left on the footpath that in few minutes brings us to the mountain hut Dom pri Krnskih jezerih (if we would continue on the road, we avoid the mountain hut).
From the mountain hut, we continue straight in the direction of Krn and Krn lake on a gentle path that soon joins the path that avoids the mountain hut. We continue past a shepherd hut behind which we come to the next crossing, where we continue left in the direction of Komna and Mali Šmohor (right Krn). And wide and gentle path past a turn-off of the path on Mali Šmohor, quickly brings us to the next crossing.
This time we continue right on a little less beaten path in the direction of Prehodci. The path ahead ascends on an old mule track, where after half an hour ascent we reach the path from the mountain pasture Koča na planini Razor towards Krn. The mentioned path we reach approximately 100 meters west from marked crossing on the saddle Prehodci.
We continue right in the direction of Krn (left Prehodci 2 minutes) and we continue on gentle and very panoramic path. The path ahead from the plateau terrain gradually brings us on a steep eastern slopes, from which a nice view opens up on Tolmin side (area is called Na Tminskem). After that, the path turns a little to the right and gradually brings us in smaller high mountain valley. Here it starts ascending steeper and after approximately 20 minutes of additional walking brings us to a large monument to fallen in the 1st world war.
At the mentioned monument marked path turns sharply to the right, and right on this spot we leave it and we continue on a small footpath which starts descending between monument and Mali Peski (peak on the right). Worse beaten, but easy to follow footpath quickly descends by the foot of Mali Peski, where we step on long scree, over which we diagonally descend on the other side, where by the foot of the Škofič joins the path (old mule track) from the mountain pasture Lašca. Here we continue right upwards and on a well visible, but entirely overgrown mule track we are ascending on slopes of the already mentioned Škofič. Ahead we are for some time gently ascending on a mule track, after that, when it gets the most close to south, we leave it and we continue the ascent on pathless terrain (direction of ascent is southwest), so that we reach the ridge between Škofič and Rdeči rob. When we reach the ridge, we continue left on at first gently sloping path, to which from the right almost unnoticeably joins the path over grassy ramp, which comes from the mountain pasture Leskovica or Sleme. The path ahead steeply ascends by the edge of precipitous ridge and in 3 minutes of additional walking brings us on Rdeči rob.
