Kranj-Stražišče (Šrotenturn) - Šmarjetna gora (by cart track)

Access to starting point:
From the old road Ljubljana - Kranj, in Kranj we turn towards Stražišče, and then a little behind the football field, at the roundabout, we take the first exit in the direction of Šmarjetna gora. From the roundabout on the road Delavska cesta we drive past Mercator store for another 100 meters and exactly opposite the ATM we turn left (still before the former store TUŠ) on street Trojarjeva ulica and after ~500 meters we get to the recycling spot, which is situated few 10 meters before the mansion or castle Šrotenturn. We park on an appropriate place by the road, after the recycling spot.

Path description:
From the starting point, we continue straight, and then at the castle right on the road Na Šmarjetno goro. On the mentioned road, we walk only few steps, and then on the left we notice a beaten footpath which leads through a meadow. On the other side of the meadow, the path goes into the forest, through which is at first gently, and then moderately ascending. After few minutes, we return on the road which further leads past the house, and then it brings us to a smaller crossing at the bench, from which a beautiful view opens up.
Before the bench we continue sharply right on an ascending cart track which starts ascending diagonally towards the right, and then it gradually starts turning more and more to the left. Higher from the right joins also the "east path", and then the cart track turns a little more towards the left and flattens. The cart track which on the right side bypasses Gradišče (592 meters), after a short descent, we leave and we continue slightly right on a well-beaten path which still continues through the forest. A little further, at another crossing we continue straight, and then for a short time, we continue parallel with the asphalt road which leads towards the top of Šmarjetna gora. A little further, we for few steps step on the road, and then we continue left upwards, on a macadam path, on which we are then moderately ascending. Higher, the path brings us out of the forest, where on the bottom side we bypass a business building, and then we soon reach an asphalt road, on which with nice views, we ascend to the top of Šmarjetna gora, where there is the church of St. Marjeta and hotel Bellevue.
