MHE Zabukovec - Praprotnikova koča

Access to starting point:
First, we drive to Preddvor or to the settlement Tupaliče (to here from Gorenjska highway or Kranj), and then we continue driving in the direction of Jezersko. When we get to municipality Jezersko, we will soon notice signs for inn Gostišče Kanonir. After the inn we go left on the road in the direction of Dol - Podstoržič and farm Kovk. Further, we drive on a little narrower road which leads us past houses, and after few 100 meters of additional driving, we get to a crossroad, where a steep road branches off to the left, on which also continues a marked path on Kozji vrh. Here we continue straight, and then at the next crossroad slightly left in the direction of Storžič and Kališče (slightly right Stegovnik). Only a little further, the path leads past a small hydropower plant Zabukovec, and then we quickly get to the spot, where there stands a traffic sign, that further driving from 20/7 to 20/10 is forbidden because of forestry work. We park on a smaller marked parking lot a little before the road closure..

Path description:
From the starting point, we continue on the road which leads us past a gate and continues along the stream Reka, and which runs through the valley Podstoržič. The stream has further some small waterfalls, rapids, pools and some side tributaries, where from our path we can see also some larger waterfalls. Higher marked path on a saddle Javorniški preval branches off to the right, and we continue straight in the direction of Storžič and we follow the road to the right turn, where in the direction of straight cart track branches off in the direction of Bašeljski preval, Kališče and Storžič.
A short time we continue on a wider cart track, and then we continue slightly left on a little narrower cart track, from which we soon go right on a marked footpath which higher few more times crosses the mentioned cart track. Further, the path leads us above the left bank of mighty torrent ditch, where by the path there is a pleasant bench with a viewpoint on the mentioned torrent, and if we look on the other side, we will be able to in one of gorges notice also more waterfalls, which in dry days dry up. From here the path is few minutes quite steeply ascending, and then it gradually flattens and a little higher brings us to hut Praprotnikova koča, which is situated by the edge of smaller clearing.
