Planina Blato - Planina Blato (circular path on Fužinske planine)

Access to starting point:
From highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Lesce and follow the road towards Bled and forward towards Bohinjska Bistrica. We continue driving towards the Lake Bohinj (Ribčev laz), where we come to the crossroad, where we continue right in the direction of Stara Fužina. In Stara Fužina at the crossroad at the chapel, we turn sharply left on an ascending road in the direction of the mountain pasture Blato, mountain pasture Vogar and valley Voje. The road ahead brings us to the spot, where the road toll or parking fee has to be paid, we follow it forward to the next crossroad, where we continue left (right Voje). Then we follow the road to the next crossroad (we drive for quite some time), where we turn sharply right in the direction of the mountain pasture Blato (straight mountain pasture Vogar). We follow this road to the parking lot above the mountain pasture Planina Blato.

Path description:
From the marked parking lot on the mountain pasture Blato we return few 10 strides back, and then we go on a wide and at first also quite a steep cart track in the direction of Planina pri Jezeru. After 10 minutes of relatively steep ascent, we come at the marked crossing, where we continue on the left steep cart track (straight mountain pasture Planina v Lazu), and a little higher joins also the marked path from the mountain pasture Planina Vogar. We continue on a wide, partly rocky cart track which higher for some time flattens, and then it steeply ascends through a smaller carved passage. Further, the path again flattens and then crosses steep slopes (in snow and ice dangerous for slipping). Only a little further, the path turns sharply to the left and it brings us in a cold small valley named Pungrat, where we cross renovated grazing fence. The path ahead again starts ascending steeper, and then turns to the right and entirely flattens. Only few meters ahead from the left joins the path from the mountain pasture Vodični vrh, and we continue straight and after 5 minutes of additional walking, we get to the mountain pasture Planina pri Jezeru, in the middle of which stands a mountain hut.
From the mountain hut, we descend to a marked crossing, where signs for mountain pasture Viševnik point us to the left on at first a poorly visible footpath. The path ahead ascends diagonally, and then passes into the forest, through which it is ascending all the way to the mountain pasture Viševnik.
On the mountain pasture Viševnik we continue right in the direction of the mountain pasture Ovčarija and mountain hut Koča pri Triglavskih jezerih on the path which starts ascending steeper on relatively steep slopes of Griva (1757 meters). The path soon flattens, and then with some shorter ascents and descents continues all the way to the mountain pasture Ovčarija. From the shepherd huts we continue a little further, and then the path brings us to a marked crossing, where we continue right in the direction of the mountain pasture Dedno polje.
The path ahead at first for a short time steeply ascends, and then starts lightly descending towards the mountain pasture Dedno polje, which we reach after good 30 minutes of additional walking.
From the mountain pasture Dedno polje we continue in the direction of the mountain pasture Planina v Lazu, on at first hard to follow and barely visible footpath. Approximately 5 minutes away from the mountain pasture the footpath becomes more distinct and easier to follow. Next follows a short ascent on an indistinct saddle between Kreda and Mizčna glava, and then the path starts descending towards path which leads from Planina pri Jezeru towards the mountain pasture Planina v Lazu. When we already see the mentioned path few 10 meters below us, our path turns to the left and for some time slightly ascends. Next follows crossing of steep and slightly exposed slopes, and then the path finally descends to the previously mentioned footpath. We follow the footpath to the left and there in 10 minutes of a light ascent, we ascend to the mountain pasture Planina v Lazu.
When we step on the mountain pasture we bypass more shepherd huts, and we continue on a moderately ascending path in the direction of the mountain pasture Krstenica. After a short ascent, we come to the next crossing, where signs for Krstenica point us slightly to the left on the path which entirely flattens and then with some shorter ascents and descents continues by the foot of Ogradi. Later, the path starts considerably descending and brings us in indistinct valley east from Ogradi. Next follows a few minute walk through a dense forest and then we gradually start ascending towards the mountain pasture Krstenica. Forest ahead is becoming thinner, and the path after 15 minutes of additional walking brings us to the mountain pasture Krstenica, from which a beautiful view opens up.
On the mountain pasture, we leave already from the mountain pasture Dedno polje ahead rare blazes and on an unmarked cart track we start descending towards the mountain pasture Blato. When the cart track on a larger meadow flattens, we will notice on the right side nicely beaten hunting path, which at first gently ascends, and then passes into a dense forest, where it is at first gently, and lower steeper descending. When the path is already for some time descending, it brings us on a wide cart track, on which we in few minutes descend to the mountain pasture Blato.
From the mountain pasture to our destination (starting point) separates us only short 5 minute moderate ascent on a macadam road.
