Planina Zajavornik - Brda (east path)

Access to starting point:
From highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Lesce and we follow the road in the direction of Bled, there in traffic lights crossroad signs for Pokljuka point us to the right. This road which in the lower part runs through few villages and later starts ascending steeper we follow to Mrzli Studenec (mountain pasture, which is located good 50 meters behid the crossroad, where left downwards road to Bohinj branches off). In the middle of the mentioned mountain pasture from the main road, the road which runs to Medvedova konta, monument Pri Rupah and mountain pasture Planina Zajavornik branches off to the right. Here we turn right and in the next crossroads, we follow the road in the direction of the mountain pasture Planina Zajavornik. The road then brings us to the parking lot near the mountain pasture Planina Zajavornik.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we go on a footpath in the direction of the mountain hut Blejska koča. The path which is at first ascending gently through the spruce forest, little higher crosses a forest road, behind which from the left side soon joins the path from NOB monument (Pri Rupah). Considerably wide path, which all the time runs in the arms of spruce forests, higher brings us to the next crossing, where we continue left in the direction of Lipanca (right Medvedova konta). We continue the ascent on very wide cart track which in a gentle ascent in few minutes brings us to grazing area of the mountain pasture Lipanca. Here the path turns right and in a moderate ascent leads by right lower edge of the mentioned mountain pasture. Next follows a crossing of a grassy slope and the path which again brings us into the forest at the memorial plaque NOB makes a sharp right turn, after which we come to shepherd cottage and mountain hut on the mountain pasture Lipanca.
From the mountain pasture, we continue right on at first poorly visible and poorly marked path, which after a short ascent brings us on the upper edge of the mountain pasture, where there is also a smaller crossing. We continue slightly left in the direction of "Lipanski vrh, Brda and Debela peč" on the path which on the right side bypasses bigger sinkhole. Only a little further, the "main" path branches off the path towards Lipanski vrh.
We continue slightly right in the direction of Debela peč on the path which starts gradually ascending steeper and steeper. When we walk this a little steeper part of the path, we come to the next crossing, where we continue straight in the direction of Debela peč (left Lipanska vrata and Brda). We continue on a gently sloping path, from which after few additional strides path to the mountain pasture Klek branches off to the right. A well-marked path then on the left side bypasses interesting peak Spodnja Brda (1844m) and then starts ascending steeper on a less and less grassy slopes. When we come on an ample ridge steepness decreases and the path brings us on a less noticeable crossing, where we continue left in the direction of the peak Brda (right Okroglež and Debela peč). The path ahead steeply ascends and after 10 minutes of walking among dwarf pines brings us to the summit.
