Access to starting point:
To Podsreda we can come from Celje via Šentjur and Kozje, from Krško or Sevnica via Brestanica and Senovo, from Brežice via Bizeljsko and Bistrica ob Sotli, if we come from Maribor via Podčetrtek, in Prelasko we turn towards Kozje, where we join the road from Šentjur.
We can park in the very center of Podsreda on paved parking spots in the middle of the square, on the parking lot next to the church, or also on the parking lot next to the fire station by the road towards Kozje, which is distant few minutes of walking from the center of Podsreda.
Path description:
From the square in the center of Podsreda we go towards the south and we cross the road from Brestanica. At the marked turn off left towards mill Levstikov mlin we still continue straight (so we don't go towards the mill), and few meters and then we go right on a marked forest path, which immediately starts ascending and almost to the top leads through the forest. For some time the signs for "path Grajska pot" are still visible, but they soon vanish, or they are replaced by the yellow white blazes. In spite of all, the path is enough obvious, that we really can't go astray, only at the spot, where it gets crossed by the forest road, we have to continue straight. In addition, educational boards regularly appear along the way, which teach us either about attractions by the path or about importance of the forest, and they can also serve as indicator, that we didn't go astray.
When below the top we get out of the forest and we finally notice the castle, we can at the marked turn off turn right to 5 minutes distant chapel Florjanova kapela, from where there is probably also the most beautiful view of the castle. From the chapel we can return back to the turn-off, or we can also continue a little ahead and we turn left on the road which brings us to the castle. If we stayed on the path Grajska pot, we continue past a lonely house and we soon get to lower western tract of the castle, which today serves as a hotel. Here we turn right and on a paved path we ascend to the entrance into the castle.
