Potoče - Potoška gora

Access to starting point:
A) From highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Kranj - east, and then we continue driving in the direction of Jezersko. When we get to Preddvor we leave the main road and we continue driving left, and after few 10 meters, opposite the company Jelovica we continue right in the direction of village Potoče, St. Jakob and Potoška gora and lake Črnava. Further, the road leads through the settlement Hrib, above which we get to a crossroad, where we continue straight (left Hotel Bor and lake Črnava, right Senior citizens home Preddvor. Next follows a good 100 meters of a light ascent to the chapel, where the road turns right, and we are driving there past few more houses, and then before Senior citizens home we turn left on a larger macadam parking lot. B) From highway Jesenice - Ljubljana we go to the exit Kranj - zahod and at the first crossroad, we continue left. Further, we drive through the underpass below the highway, and then we get to a roundabout, from where we continue driving in the direction of Golnik. The path ahead leads us through the settlement Mlaka pri Kranju, and at the end of the settlement, we continue right in the direction of the settlement Srakovlje. Next follows driving through Srakovlje, Spodnja Bela, Srednja Bela to Zgornja Bela, where we continue right towards Preddvor. At the end of the Preddvor, only few 10 meters before the road joins main road Zgornje Jezersko - Kranj, we continue left in the direction of village Potoče, St. Jakob and Potoška gora and lake Črnava. Further, the road leads through the settlement Hrib, above which we get to a crossroad, where we continue straight (left Hotel Bor and lake Črnava, right Senior citizens home Preddvor. Next follows a good 100 meters of a light ascent to the chapel, where the road turns right, and we are driving there past few more houses, and then before Senior citizens home we turn left on a larger macadam parking lot.

Path description:
At the beginning of the parking lot, we go on a footpath which goes by the fence of retirement home upwards. The path here steeply ascends through the forest and in a little less than 10 minutes brings us to a crossing at Senčnica Josipine Turnograjske. If we continue right there is only few steps to Senčnica where there is an inscription book and some benches.
The path from the crossing becomes gentle and soon brings us on a macadam road where there are also signposts. We continue left on the road and we follow it in a gentle descent to a bigger crossroad, where from the left joins also the road which leads from the parking lot near the Senior citizens home Preddvor and bypasses Senčnica Josipine Turnograjske.
At the crossroad, we go right on a cart track by which there are signposts. After a short ascent on the mentioned cart track, we are again at the crossing, where we go right. The left path goes on castle Novi grad. We follow the right path ahead through the forest few more minutes, and then we cross a macadam road which also leads on Jakob. The further path is for quite some time still relatively steeply ascending through the forest and few more times crosses the macadam road. Higher, the path becomes a little more panoramic and when we for the last time cross the macadam road we already have a very nice view towards the church of St. Jakob. We still continue on a marked footpath all the way to a smaller saddle near the church where the view starts opening up also towards the north.
At the crossing where there are signposts, we continue left and only a short ascent follows to the church and mountain hut Planinska koča Iskra na Jakobu.
From the mountain hut, we return to the mentioned saddle where we go on a footpath in the direction towards Potoška gora and Javorjev vrh. The path starts ascending through the forest and after approximately 15 minutes brings us to a marked crossing.
Straight leads the path on Javorov vrh, to the left there is only a minute to the vantage point from where there is a very nice view towards Strožič, Cjanovca and Hudičev boršt. And is here go right in the direction of Potoška gora. We follow right path ahead and it brings us in parts thin forest with some views. But the path soon goes again into a dense forest. The path further is still moderately ascending and it brings us to the peak, where there is a bench (Potoška gora).
