Pri Mlinču - Mangartska koča (by road)

Access to starting point:
A) From Kranjska Gora over the border crossing Rateče we drive to Trbiž / Tarvisio. In Trbiž we continue left in the direction of Bovec and we follow the road to the crossroad near the lake Rabeljsko jezero. Here we continue straight still in the direction of Bovec (right Nevejski preval / Sella Nevea) and the road higher brings us to a border crossing Predel. Further, we start descending, but only to a crossroad, where signs for saddle Mangartsko sedlo point us to the left. Here we turn left and then we soon park on a parking lot by the road.
B) From Bovec, we drive towards the border crossing Predel, but only to a spot, where signs for saddle Mangartsko sedlo point us to the right. Further, follow the upper description.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue on the road, and it soon brings us to mighty landslide. Here the road turns right, crosses landslide and on the other side steeply ascends by the edge of the mentioned landslide. Further from the main road, the road which leads towards Mangartska planina branches off to the left side (option of the ascent on a footpath). The road then turns a little to the right and it brings us to the first tunnel (we can use a lamp). More panoramic and scenic road then through numerous tunnels and zig-zags brings us to the next crossroad, where we continue left in the direction of the mountain hut Mangartska koča (straight saddle Mangartsko sedlo). After additional 5 minutes of walking on a narrow and steep road we get to the mountain hut, from which there is a nice view towards Mangart.
The path is recommended only for rainy days (without storms), in good weather and snowless conditions is much nicer ascent on a footpath.
