Puštal - Osolnik

Access to starting point:
First, we drive to Škofja Loka, and then we continue driving in the direction of Gorenja vas. Further, we drive through the old part of the town, but only to a crossroad, where a road branches off to the right towards the castle Loški grad. At the mentioned crossroad, we continue left (direction Puštal), and the road then over a river Poljanščica brings us in Puštal. Here a road branches off to the right, which runs into a valley of Hrastnica, and we continue left towards the village Sora. Here we will on the right side notice narrow and steep cart track road, by which there are mountain signposts for Osolnik, Tošč and Črni Vrh. At the starting point, there aren't any appropriate parking spots, so it is better to park on one of the settled parking lots in Škofja Loka. This extends the path for approximately 10 to 15 minutes.

Path description:
From the spot, where we've parked, we at first walk to the starting point, and then we go on a wide and steep cart track in the direction of Osolnik, Tošč and Črni Vrh. The path ahead ascends by a numerous Stations of the Cross, which lead towards the church of the Holy Cross on Hribec, and we soon notice signposts for Osolnik, which point us to the left, at first a little downwards. And after few steps of descent we come into a smaller valley, and we continue on a steep grassy slope, where we are ascending by the edge of a grazing fence. The path from which at first beautiful views opening up on Škofja Loka and Kamnik Savinja Alps at the back, quickly goes into the forest, where then gradually flattens.
The path ahead for quite some time leads through a dense forest, and we walk on the path which few times steeper descends. Eventually we step out of the forest on a panoramic grassy meadow, where the path for some time vanishes a little. Only a little higher we step on a cart track and we follow it to the right, and it quickly brings us to a smaller religious symbol and NOB monument, where we continue slightly left. Behind the monument the path turns slightly to the right and a little higher brings us into a lane of a forest.
When we again step out of the forest, we will notice on the left side a lonely homestead, and on the right a fenced pasture. We continue straight on the path which goes into the forest, and it soon brings us to a macadam road which we follow to the right. Next follows few minutes walk on the road, and then we get to a crossroad, where we continue straight on a cart track. We continue on a marked cart track which then has in a short time quite a few crossings, and we all the time stick to the blazes. Cart track higher changes into a footpath, and it starts ascending steeply by the grazing fence. A little further from the left joins the path from the village Sora, and we continue right and in few 10 strides of additional walking, we get to the top of Osolnik, on which stands the church of St. Mohor and Fortunat.
