Ravne - Poljanski vrh (via Črna prst)

Access to starting point:
A) From highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Lesce and follow the road towards Bled and forward towards Bohinjska Bistrica. From Bohinjska Bistrica we continue left in the direction of Tolmin and Soriška planina. Soon we will notice by the road signposts for Črna prst, which point towards the right, but we continue straight. Only a little later we come to a crossroad, where a signpost point us to slightly right towards the village Ravne. Further, we drive past a large parking lot by the former ski slope Kobla, and the asphalt road which starts ascending steeply we follow to Ravne, where the road flattens. Here we continue to drive all the way to the spot, where the asphalt ends. At the spot, where the asphalt ends is a larger parking lot by inn Janez, where we park on the right side of the parking lot, (parking lot on the left side of the road is intended for guests of the inn Janez).
B) From Železniki or Petrovo Brdo we drive to Bohinjska Bistrica, where before the center of the settlement, we turn left in the direction of the settlement Ravne. The road which starts ascending steeply we follow to Ravne, where the road flattens. Here we continue to drive all the way to the spot, where the asphalt ends. At the spot, where the asphalt ends is a larger parking lot by inn Janez, where we park on the right side of the parking lot, (parking lot on the left side of the road is intended for guests of the inn Janez).

Path description:
From the parking lot at the inn Janez we continue in the direction of Črna prst and mountain hut Orožnova koča, where at first we walk on a macadam road, from which a beautiful view opens up towards Triglav. The road after the initial ascent passes into the forest and turns a little to the left, where we quickly get to a marked crossing.
From the crossing, we continue left in the direction of Črna prsta, mountain pasture Planina za Črno goro and mountain hut Orožnova koča (straight Bohinjska Bistrica and old path towards Orožnova koča). The path ahead on the right side bypasses a privat house (used to be mountain hut Planinski dom dr. Janeza Mencingerja), after that a little ahead it joins a cart track, on which we continue to ascend. A little higher, at the crossing we continue right, and then the path continues through the forest. Even a little further, the path leads past a log cabin and a cross, and then we already get to a marked crossing, where we continue right in the direction of Orožnova koča (left mountain pasture Planina za Črno goro).
The path then crosses slopes a little towards the right, and meanwhile it also descends considerably. When the descent ends, from the right old path joins, which is a little shorter, but officially no longer marked. Next follows a walk on a forest path, where we cross few cart tracks, and at the marked crossing we continue on the right path. Few minutes higher we reach the forest road which we only cross (right Orožnova koča on timber slide).
Next follows a relatively steep ascent through the forest, and higher from the right a little longer path on timber slide joins.
We continue left and in few minutes we get to the mountain hut Orožnova koča on the mountain pasture Planina za Liscem.
From the mountain hut, we continue left in the forest moderately upwards. The path ahead slowly passes out of the forest on slopes below Črna prst. The steepness of the path starts to increase and also the slope on which we walk is becoming steeper and steeper. Already pretty steep path brings us below the walls of Črna prst. Next, we ascend by a wall upwards and then we turn left and we cross a gully. Further, in a moderate ascent we cross the slopes towards the east. Only few meters before a saddle joins the path from the mountain pasture Planina za Črno goro. On the saddle, we go right and in ten minutes of panoramic walking we come to the mountain hut on Črna prst. For the ascent to the summit we have to make few steps.
From Črna prst we continue towards the west in the direction of Rodica to which is approximately three hours of walking. The path ahead at first leads on a wide grassy ridge, which quickly narrows and the path starts steeply descending. After few minutes of descent from the right joins the path from the mountain pasture Osredki, and we continue on the left (Primorska) side of the ridge in the direction of Vogel.
After the crossing, the path becomes demanding and with the help of steel cables, or mostly without them crosses pretty steep grassy slopes, which are mainly in wet dangerous for slipping. The path then flattens a little and brings us on a saddle Vrata (1721 meters). After that, the path again avoids the ridge to the left and it ascends diagonally over the next steep slope. That the path isn't entirely easy, we get also warned by a memorial plaque. The steepness of the slopes then gradually decreases and the path again gets closer to the main ridge (here we can in 15 minutes ascend on Četrt - easy pathless terrain).
We continue towards the west, on panoramic mostly with grass vegetated ridge, that is gently ascending towards Konjski vrh, which the path bypasses on the left side. After that, the path slightly descends and it brings us to an indistinct small saddle between Konjski and Poljanski vrh.
On this indistinct saddle we leave the marked path and on easier pathless terrain in 10 minutes we ascend on with grass vegetated Poljanski vrh.
