From highway Maribor - Gradec / Graz - Lienzen (A9) we go to the exit Gratkorn-Süd, first exit after the tunnel Plabutschtunnel. We turn left in the direction of Graz-Andritz.
At the next traffic light crossroad we turn left in the direction of Weiz, St. Radegund. We follow the road to the end (approximately 3 km), where at the crossroad we again turn left in the direction of St. Radegund.
After 4 km we pay attention to turn off left in the direction Rinegg. We drive through the settlement Rinegg to Rehabilitation center, where at the roundabout, we choose 3rd exit and we continue uphill.
After 200 meters we park right on a smaller parking lot.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue on the road slightly upwards, past the turn-off for bottom station of the cable car, then also past the point, where from the right side mountain path joins.
After approximately 900 meters we get to the turn-off, where signposts point us to the left towards the summit of Schöckl. After 70 meters we leave a wider macadam path and we go left into the forest.
We follow the path through the forest. At the hunting cottage, we continue on the left path through the forest. The right path would brings us to the parking lot "Schöcklkreuz". The path through the forest becomes steeper.
The path is all the time very well-marked. On some spots, we cross the road or we stick to it only few ten meters. When we come out of the forest, a view opens up on the mountain pasture below Schöckl.
We stick to beaten path. After few minutes, we notice the mountain hut and transmitter. We continue left on a grassy path to the road. We follow the path in the direction of a smaller transmitter.
After few minutes, we get to a cross, from where we have a breathtaking view on all sides.
