From highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Lesce and follow the road ahead towards Bled. In Bled at the traffic lights, the signs for Pokljuka point us to the right. Ahead we drive through Gorje and past the abandoned ski slope Zatrnik to Rudno polje on Pokljuka (large parking lot, barracks and shooting range).
Path description:
At the end of the parking lot a macadam road by which there are signposts for Triglav branches off to the right. We go on this road which is slightly ascending and after ten minutes brings us to the ski slope. Further, we continue on the road from which soon a marked path towards Triglav branches off to the left, and we continue on the road which a little higher crosses the ski slope. On this part marked path on Viševnik branches off to the left upwards, on which we continue the ascent. The path ahead is ascending by a ski track upwards to the next ski lift. Here the path turns left upwards along the second ski lift and soon brings us to the top of the ski track. The path ahead on a slightly covered slope is ascending through nice small valley, which in the summer time is full of flowers. Next follows few minutes of steeper ascent to decaying hunting observatory. On this part we leave the path on Viševnik and go right on a poorly visible footpath, that is gently ascending on a meadow upwards. A little higher footpath becomes more noticeable and passes into dwarf pines. The path ahead crosses side ridge of Viševnik named Kačji rob and then passes into a high mountain terrain. Nice path with numerous karst phenomena then brings us to a crossing, where we continue on the right path in the direction of the mountain hut Blejska koča na Lipanci (left saddle Srenjski preval).
The path ahead runs almost horizontal, but only few minutes. Ahead path starts descending on slopes north from Veliki Selišnik. The path then flattens and brings us on partly grassy slopes, where we come at the area of dwelling of marmots. If we will be enough quiet and we started our tour early enough we will be able to see them. The path ahead slightly ascends and brings us on the main ridge of mountains between Krma and Pokljuka. The path already after few meters again goes on the south side of the mountain, where we still continue towards Lipanci. Soon we run into signpost for Debeli vrh, which points us left upwards.
We go on a marked but in parts poorly visible footpath which is ascending between a lane of dwarf pines and thin forest. The footpath which is getting worse then brings us on the upper grassy slopes of the mountain. That orientation wouldn't be too easy direct approach to the summit interrupts lane of dwarf pines. Before dwarf pines we go a little right, after that back left. The path on the upper part is otherwise marked but blazes are very rare.
