A) First, we drive to Kranjska Gora, and then we continue driving through the border crossing Rateče into Italy. We drive towards Trbiž / Tarvisio, and then at the beginning of the mentioned town, we turn left in the direction of Bovec. Further, we drive on a regional road towards the border crossing Predel, and we follow the main road to a crossroad near the lake Rabeljsko jezero / Lago del Predil. Here we continue right in the direction of Nevejski preval (V Žlebeh) / Sella Nevea and on an asphalt road, we reach already mentioned saddle. We park on a large parking lot by the bottom station of the cable car, which runs towards the mountain hut Rifugio Gilberti.
B) First, we drive to Bovec, and then we continue driving towards the border crossing Predel, over which we drive in Italy. Next follows a descent to the lake Rabeljsko jezero, after which we leave the main road which leads towards Trbiž and we continue driving left in the direction of Nevejski preval (V Žlebeh). The road then again starts ascending, and we follow it to the already mentioned saddle. We park on a large parking lot by the bottom station of the cable car, which runs towards the mountain hut Rifugio Gilberti.
Path description:
At the end of the parking lot, we notice the sign for mountain hut Gilberti, which points us on the bottom part of ski track. When we step on track we continue left and after a shorter ascent, we step on a transport road which is ascending on track upwards. With relatively steep and for traffic closed road with every step new views are opening up, which are most beautiful on the nearby Bela peč and on Montaž group of mountains. The road higher gets very close to cliffs of Bela peč and then it brings us to the upper station of an old cableway.
From the cableway we continue in the direction of the mountain hut Rifugio Gilberti on a gently sloping road which past the chapel in few minutes brings us to the mountain hut and the upper station of new cable car.
From the mountain hut Gilberti we descend in frost hollow Prevalska ravan, from where we continue right on at first gentle ski track. We continue the ascent on a transport road which is ascending parallel with ski track. Higher, the road again joins ski slope, and it ascends among extensive snow fields. Above the snow field "path" ascends even steeper, and then in few minutes of additional walking brings us on a saddle Prevala, where there is national border.
From Prevala, on which there is a crossing of five paths we continue left in the direction of Rombon (straight downwards Bovec, right Prestreljenik). We continue towards the east on the path which gradually passes on slopes of Lopa (2406 meters), and in few ascents and descents, we follow it to a smaller saddle between Lopa and Kotel (1881 meters). Here the path turns slightly to the left and continues by numerous abysses, which are typical for Kanin mountain chain. The path ahead quickly brings us to a crossing, where the path branches off to the left on Črnelska špica (2332 meters), and we continue right in the direction towards Rombon and speleological bivouac. Next follows a shorter ascent and the path brings us on a smaller saddle between Črnelska špica and Vrh Ribežnov.
From the saddle, we slightly descend to a crossing near the speleological bivouac. The right path leads over Rupa in Bovec, and we continue on the left path in the direction of Rombon. After that, the path crosses slopes below Prišna glava and it brings us to a smaller source with a drinking water, which in dry period dries up. The path, by which then show up remains from the first world war, is at first still slightly descending, and then follows approximately one hour long ascent towards the summit of Rombon. In the last part, the path is becoming increasingly steep and a little below the summit also slightly exposed.
