We drive to Tolmin, and then we continue driving in the direction of Žabče and Zadlaz (turn-off from the main road is located on the left bank of Tolminka). When we get to Žabče, at the smaller crossroad we continue slightly right in the direction of the settlement Zadlaz. In the settlement Zadlaz-Žabče the road for some time descends, where we over a bridge crosses Zadlaščica, and then again starts ascending steeply on narrow, but all the time asphalt road. After approximately 12 km from the main road we get to the marked parking lot in Tolminske Ravne, where we park.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we return few steps back to red mountain signposts, which we follow in the direction of the mountain hut Koča na planini Razor and mountain pasture Planina Kal. The path ahead at first leads over a grazing fence, and then we continue on a cart track which continues through a meadow, and from there a nice view opens up on Tolminski Migovec. Cart track soon turns right and it brings us to a rocky fence, where it splits into two parts.
We continue on the left upper cart track in the direction of the mountain pasture Planina na Kalu (slightly right mountain hut Koča na planini Razor), which is then ascending gently. A little higher, at the older water storage we continue right, and then we cross a torrent. We soon get to the next crossing, where we leave the path which leads towards the mountain pasture Kal and Tolminski Migovec and we go on the right cart track which at the crossing isn't marked.
We continue on the mentioned gentle cart track and after few ten meters, we will right on a tree notice a caption Škrbina. Later, the mentioned cart track passes into a footpath which starts moderately ascending. Here we will by the path also notice otherwise quite rare blazes. After that, the path turns slightly to the left and then it is for quite some time steeply ascending through the forest through a steep partly rocky valley. The steepness doesn't decrease until we join the path which leads from Koča na planini Razor. At the crossing, we continue left on a little less steep and well-beaten path. The path which still runs through the forest quickly brings us to the next crossing, which is marked with signposts.
We continue right in the direction of Planina Kal and Krn. From the crossing, the path is again a little steeper ascending and still runs through the forest. Such a path then brings us to the next marked crossing.
This time we continue straight or slightly right in the direction of Škrbina and Vrh nad Škrbino, to the left leads the path towards Planina Kal and forward towards Krn. From the crossing, the path brings us out of the forest and then runs through the valley below Škrbinska plošča. Here the path mostly runs through dwarf pines by the edge of the forest in the direction towards the north. From the path here also beautiful views opening up mainly in the direction towards Škrbina. Later, the path leaves the mentioned valley and it turns to the right and it ascends a little steeper towards Škrbinska plošča. The path on which we walk is officially marked, but on this part of the path there aren't any blazes. The path then comes out of dwarf pines and is then short time steeply ascending on the scree and it brings us to a crossing below Škrbinska plošča.
Here we join better visited path from Koča na planini Razor. We continue left and the path ahead is ascending diagonally on the scree all the way to the saddle Škrbina, which is situated at an altitude 1910 meters.
When we step on Škrbina, a nice view opens up on Bohinj side, and at the crossing, we continue left in the direction of Kuk (right Vrh nad Škrbino, straight downwards Dom na Komni and ski slope Vogel). The path ahead starts ascending diagonally over steep plates, and then both path and also slope flatten out a little. The path ahead passes below shorter wall of Vrh Kont, and then starts gently descending over occasionally steeper scree. The path ahead on Primorska side crosses also Podrta gora and Mali vrh, and then returns on the main ridge of Spodnje Bohinjske gore, which reaches right on the saddle between Mali vrh and Zeleni vrh. From here we continue in the same direction, only that path from the slopes passes on in parts exposed ridge. The marked path, which occasionally relatively steeply ascends, then with increasingly beautiful views, we follow all the way to grassy Zeleni vrh.
