Tržič - Tolsti vrh

Access to starting point:
From highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Ljubelj and we follow the road ahead towards Ljubelj and Tržič. Only few meters before the gas station, we leave the main road and we continue driving right in the direction of Tržič. In Tržič, at store Mercator we turn right and the road after a short ascent past apartment blocks brings us to a crossroad, where we continue right. Next follows driving on a narrow road which we follow only good 200 meters and then at the crossroad we continue sharply left on an ascending macadam road, and it quickly brings us to the church of St. Joseph, which is the starting point for our tour.

Path description:
Near the church we will notice hiking signposts, which point us to the right on an ascending footpath. The path at first moderately ascends through the forest and then joins a wide cart track which we follow to the right. Cart track soon ends and changes into increasingly steep footpath. Ahead relatively steep path, which runs through the forest, then past Mala Mizica (764 meters) brings us to Velika Mizica (976 meters), where there is a nice viewpoint.
From the vantage point, we continue on a marked path which starts ascending even steeper. Higher, the path flattens a little and further leads on a pleasant with a forest covered ridge. Even a little further, the path avoids the forest a little to the right, on panoramic grassy slopes of Kriška gora (nice view towards the south on Gorenjska and Škofjeloško hribovje). The path ahead flattens a little more and after few minutes of additional walking brings us to a crossing, where from the right side joins the path from the village Križe (or from Gozd steep path).
We continue on much better beaten footpath which in a moderate ascent, which at first partly still runs through the forest, brings us on the upper grassy slopes. Here the path entirely flattens and in few minutes of panoramic walking it brings us to the mountain hut on Kriška gora.
From the mountain hut on Kriška gora we continue on a marked mountain path in the direction of Tolsti vrh. The path ahead is at first ascending gently over panoramic grassy slopes of Kriška gora, and then it brings us on the main ridge, from where a view opens up on precipitous northern side. The path ahead immediately avoids the ridge to the right, crosses less distinct peak named Vrata (1591 meters) and is then moderately ascending on and by the ridge. The path from which increasingly beautiful views opening up, higher brings us on very panoramic secondary peak, from which follows a short, but relatively steep descent. Further, the path passes into a lane of a forest, where it starts steeper and steeper ascending. After few minutes of a steep ascent, we step out of the forest and in front of us, we notice Tolsti vrh, and we reach it after few 10 strides of additional walking.
