To Vače we can get to from two directions. From Ljubljana, we go towards Litija, where in Spodnji Hotič at the sign for Vače we turn left. To Vače leads a narrower road. When we come in the village we can see a big wooden sign, which besides the other paths shows also direction towards Zasavska Sveta gora. Few meters higher, at the church we can park.
And to Vače we can also come from Zasavje, we drive past Litija and then equally as above in Spodnji Hotič we turn right.
Path description:
In front of the church we can first look at the map of the path towards the summit. Then we turn on the road downwards and immediately to the left, out from Vače. First it is an asphalt road and it follows the path GEOSS, and there are sculptures made of wood and info signs. From the situla at the crossroad to which we come on the road, we go right on a macadam. The path all the time leads on the macadam road straight, past a meadow and a smaller quarry.
We continue all the time on the road which then runs past village Vovče. At the end of the village, there is a meadow from which there is a nice view towards Kum. We continue on the road and after a good hour of walking, we come to a crossroad, where a damaged sign on a tree (picture below) points us left on a smaller cart track, and the road goes further. Here we can choose any of the paths, The left path leads around the hill and on the ridge to the beginning of the peak of Zasavska sveta gora, and the right on the road past few houses and then on a more narrow path in the same direction. If we go left and around the hill, we follow the cart track around of the hill, and then we branch off on a beaten path right on the ridge ahead. The path is diverse, little upwards, little downwards. As I already mentioned the right path is the most of the time narrower, it runs through the forest and then on the open terrain (sand and rocks), but if there isn't any snow, it isn't dangerous. But it is shorter. After about half an hour, both paths join and from here there is a little less than half an hour of walking. This part of the path is a little steeper. And the blazes and the cart track lead us. Below the summit, we can go directly to the church (right) or directly to the hut (left). This is shown also by the both signposts. The path to the hut is narrow and in snow quite dangerous, and the path to the church is steep. After a little less than five minutes you are already on the top.
The path is easy, appropriate also for families, otherwise it takes two hours of walking, but the larger part of the path is more or less gentle. Hiking poles are recommended only in the last part of the path, otherwise we don't need them.
