From Kranjska Gora, we drive towards Bovec or vice versa, but only to mountain pass Vršič, where we park.
Path description:
From the parking lot on the mountain pass Vršič we walk to a smaller wooden cottage in which they sell various souvenirs. Here we will notice a footpath which before the cottage turns right and after few steps it brings us to a crossing, where we continue on the left path which starts descending (right path leads on Mojstrovka). At the beginning of descent we will on a little bigger rock notice a caption Jalovec, which shows us, that we are on the right path.
The path ahead diagonally descends over smaller scree, crosses a short lane of bushes or thin forest and brings us below the steep cliff. A gentle ascent follows, and then the path brings us to two successive secured passages (undemanding). The path ahead gradually passes into the forest and with the exception of few shorter ascents starts descending. After approximately two hours of walking from the mountain pass Vršič, we will come at the marked crossing, where we continue in the direction of the cottage Zavetišče pod Špičkom (right Jalovec).
Next follows few successive crossings, and we still follow the path in the direction of the cottage Zavetišče pod Špičkom. Only after good 2 hours of walking, the path starts ascending steeper. Already after a short ascent, we come out of the forest and from the path which for some time runs below the steep slopes, soon a view opens up on the nearby Špiček (peak below which is situated a cottage). The increasingly panoramic path is then slowly turning towards the left, where higher joins the path from Zadnja Trenta.
We continue straight in the direction of the cottage Zavetišče pod Špičkom on the path which passes into karst terrain. The path from which beautiful views are opening up on peaks above Zgornje Posočje, higher brings us to a smaller crossing, where the path on Jalovec branches off to the right. We continue straight and on the path by which we notice some interesting inscriptions (verses) in few minutes we get to the cottage Zavetišče pod Špičkom.
