Vuhred - Janževski vrh

Access to starting point:
From Dravograd we drive towards Maribor or vice versa, and after Radlje ob Dravi (from the direction Maribor before Radlje) at the roundabout we leave the main road towards Maribor or Dravograd and we continue driving in the direction towards Vuhred, Ribnica na Pohorju and Ribniška koča. After the bridge over the river Drava we get to Vuhred, and we continue right towards Vuzenica and then still before the end of Vuhred we park on a larger asphalt parking lot near the sports field and parish church of St. Lovrenc.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we return a little back to the center of Vuhred, from where we go on a marked path which leads on Janževski vrh. For some time we still walk on the asphalt road which leads us towards the east, and then at the trough with water signs for Janževski vrh point us to the right, where we quickly get to the fire station. We bypass the fire station on the left side, and at the smaller crossroad, we go right, so that we get to a ski slope Vuhred, and we cross the ski track towards the right. On the other side of the ski track, the path passes into the forest and starts ascending steeper. We soon reach a cart track on which we continue an ascent, and at the crossings we follow the blazes. Higher, we cross a macadam road and we continue an ascent on a cart track, and from which higher a view opens up a little. Next follows few minutes of ascent on a forested ridge and we get to a bench with inscription box, which is situated before the homestead Brdnik, on the top of a panoramic hill.
Above the bench we leave the forest, and the mentioned farm we bypass on the right side. With nice views on Kozjak and Pohorje we reach the macadam road, on which we start descending. When the road stops descending and passes into the forest, blazes point us slightly to the right on a footpath which continues through the forest, and after few minutes for some time returns on the road. We again leave the road and we continue slightly right, and at the nearby holiday cottage, we reach another road, on which we then return to a macadam road which we several times left. A little further, we leave the forest and we get to a panoramic slope, from which a wonderful view opens up on Pohorje, and at the bench which is surrounded by two birch trees, we leave the road and through the meadow we descend to the farm Kajžer, where they sell milk, wood, honey and juice.
The path ahead leads us on the asphalt road, on which we are mostly moderately descending, and at the crossroads, we follow the blazes or signs for Janževski vrh. Behind the chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary the road returns into the forest, and we leave it because blazes point us to the right on at first a wide cart track which leads us past a smaller hunting observatory and a smaller religious symbol. Next follows a little steeper descent, and then we return to the road which stops descending. On the left side, we bypass the nearby homestead, and from the crossroad we continue slightly left, on the upper road. Next follows an ascent with nice views on Pohorje, and past an older chapel we get to homestead Ušman, where the path returns into the forest. Through the forest, we continue on a cart track, from which at the thinner part of the forest we go right, and higher once again right, so that we reach another cart track, and then forest road. We follow the road to the right, and there we descend to an asphalt road, where we go left upwards, where also signs for Janževski vrh point us to. We continue on the asphalt road, from which a road branches off to the left towards the cottage Grizotova koča Kompos, and we continue on the asphalt road which further leads past few houses of farm Stepišnik. After the farm follows some descent, and when the road returns into the forest, we for some time leave it and we continue slightly right on a marked shortcut. After a short ascent, we return on the road and we follow it to the right. Next follows a walk on the asphalt road, and a little after the bigger chapel, we again leave it and we continue right on a cart track which ascends through the forest. After a short ascent, we get closer to homestead Lesjak, and we go left and we return on the asphalt road. Next follows few minutes of walking on the asphalt road and past the homestead Bomer we get to the marked parking lot in front of Janževski vrh.
Fom the end of the parking lot, we continue straight and after 100 meters of additional walking, we get to the church of St. Janez and hunting cottage on Janževski vrh.
