Xyloskalo is situated in the Chania regional unit / prefecture of Crete (Greece). A paved road connects it to Chania via Omalos. On the road, follow the sings for "Gorge of Samaria".
Path description:
The Samaria The gorge is a major tourist attraction of Crete.
The route is well maintained, marked, with a drinking water streams and toilets at regular intervals. Expect many visitors.
Throughout the hike you will descend 1230 meters. The trail is the steepest in the first part from Xyloskalo to Ag. Nikolaos (about 700 meters lower than the starting point).
