Za Ušivcem - Gradišče (Velika planina)

Access to starting point:
A) First, we drive to Kamnik, and then we continue driving in the direction of the mountain pass Črnivec. Only few 100 meters before the mentioned mountain pass we notice signs for Kranjski Rak, which point us sharply left on a narrow and at first also quite steep road. The road higher flattens and then brings us to a mountain pass Volovjek, where immediately behind the inn Kranjski Rak we turn left on a road in the direction of Velika planina. Further, we drive on a macadam road which higher brings us to the next little bigger crossroad. We continue right (straight mountain pasture Kisovec) and we follow moderately ascending road to larger and marked parking lot Za Ušivcem.
B) From the valley Savinjska dolina we at first drive to Luče, and then we continue driving towards Kamnik. When we come on the mountain pass Volovjek (Kranjski Rak) we continue right in the direction of Velika planina. Further, we follow the description above.

Path description:
By the parking lot we notice signs for Mala and Velika planina, which point us into the forest, on a well-beaten, but unmarked footpath. The path at first ascends through the forest and then it flattens and out of the forest brings us on grassy slopes, where it turns a little to the left and joins the forest road. On the road, we walk only for a short time, and then we get to the next signposts.
Here signs for Velika planina point straight on the road, and we don't follow that and go slightly right on much more pleasant footpath which is marked with red arrows. The path ahead is moderately ascending over an ample pastures of plateau Velika planina. After approximately 15 minutes of walking from the spot, when we left the road, we get to Dovja raven, where some shepherd huts are situated.
From here, from where from the left joins also a little longer path on the road, we continue in the direction of Velika planina. The path ahead for some time continues almost horizontal, and then it for some time slightly descends. Next follows a little longer gentle ascent, and more and more scenic path brings us near the chapel of Marija Snežna, which we notice on the left side and to which we have only a short ascent.
From the chapel we descend to a cross, which is situated by the nearby larger watering place for livestock, and from there we continue straight upwards on a well visible path, which ascends above some shepherd huts. Above the cottages from the left joins also a marked path from Mala planina, and we continue right and we diagonally ascend on a smaller saddle between two peaks. From the saddle, to which leads also a ski lift from Tiha dolina we continue right and over a little steeper slope (in the winter a ski track) ascend to a smaller saddle. Here we continue right and on an indistinct ridge in a minute of additional walking, we ascend on the highest peak of Velika planina.
