Access to starting point:
A) From highway Maribor - Ljubljana we go to the exit Celje Center in the direction Laško or Zidani Most. First, we go over the first bridge directly below the center of Celje over the river Savinja. A little lower in the settlement Polule, at the traffic light crossroad we turn left through a bridge over Savinja and right after the bridge at the crossroad we go right. Just before the underpass for Zagrad we park on a parking lot on the right.
B) From the direction Zidani Most or Laško at the traffic light crossroad Polule we turn right and we continue to the parking lot the same way as in the upper description.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue to a crossroad, left for Zagrad/underpass and we go right or straight on the asphalt road in the direction of Tremerje. After few hundred metrers we turn left and after the railway underpass we immediately ascend through Pečovnik along the riverbed of the stream. Somewhere to the altitude three hundred meters we walk on asphalt and further we go right on a forest path, caption on the tree Vipota and we soon get to one of the highest trees in Slovenia around 50 meters high douglas fir.
Further, we follow the path higher. A pleasant path is all the time ascending and we soon reach the crossing. We continue left, while to the right upwards goes the path over the peak Vipota.
The path flattens a little, it isn't too steep anymore and soon partly also on the path along a smaller stream we reach the crossing Ivankovič on an idyllic clearing below Vipota. A view to the right, on an idyllic homestead below Vipota and a little at the back we can also see the peak. Few steps ahead joins the path from the settlement Tremerje. We continue upwards in the direction of signpost Celjska koča with timeline 1 hour.
We follow a diverse path through the forest, which goes also a little up and down. Few ten meters of the path there is also on an asphalt grounding and then again on a forest mountain path. We soon reach the chapel in a descent downwards and further follows the ascent towards Celjska koča. Higher, the path flattens a little, passes into the forest road, where the path branches off to the right on Tolsti vrh (path Po vrheh). We continue straight, a little downwards and at the smaller forestry gate we reach an asphalt road. We continue straight few hundred meters on the asphalt grounding and in a gentle ascent, we reach our destination - Celjska koča, a modern structure above Celje.
The distance of the path from the starting point Zagrad is around 5 kilometers, 500 positive altitude meters and 80 negative altitude meters.
