Zamedveje - Korada

Access to starting point:
From Nova Gorica we drive towards Tolmin (or vice versa). In the settlement of Plave we turn left (from the Tolmin direction right) and cross the bridge over the Soča river. At the intersection immediately after the bridge we continue right and drive along the river to the next junction, where we turn left in the direction of the hamlet Zamedveje. We follow the steep asphalt road to the area above the lower hamlet, where we park in a suitable place at the edge of the roadway.

Route description:
Warning: The trail from the starting point Zamedveje is no longer officially marked (removed from the maPZS system), but due to its course mostly along roads and cart tracks it is still traceable.

From the starting point we continue along the road where we parked. We can also choose the footpath that branches off at the bend a few meters before the parking area, but it is quite overgrown. The road ascends gently mostly through the forest and after about 45 minutes of walking brings us to an unmarked junction, where we turn right. Further on the path becomes more scenic and leads us past a few houses to the place where the marked footpath from Plave joins from the left.
We continue along the road with a slight ascent, which after a few minutes brings us to a smaller hamlet, where the markings direct us left between the houses uphill. The path then ascends moderately, partly over grassy slopes, partly through the forest. At the top of this ascent we reach an asphalt road, where we continue right, but only for a good 20 meters. Then the markings direct us left uphill, where in a transverse ascent over a grassy slope we climb to the next road.
We continue left along the road, which turns right and enters the forest. Here a path to the church of Sveta Gendrca branches off left uphill from the road, but we continue along the road, which again emerges from the forest onto scenic grassy slopes. A little further we arrive at a parking area, where a poorer cart track branches off left uphill, which after 100 meters of walking brings us to the Zavetišče na Koradi. From the shelter we continue left along the path, which crosses a short stretch of forest and then leads us along the scenic summit ridge to the summit of Korada.
Note: We can descend past the church of Sveta Gendrca, where we rejoin the ascent route.
