Želeče (Bled) - Straža

Access to starting point:
From highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Lesce and we drive towards Bled. When we get to the mentioned tourist town, we drive straight through traffic light crossroad, and after 50 meters (before telephone booths) we turn left. The road runs left uphill and then right - past hotels Kompas and Golf, (on flat for approx 250 more meters), whereupon we turn right in the direction of Straža, Garni hotel Berc. Here we stick to the left direction and we follow the signs "Straža", which on a narrower road brings us to a large parking lot below the ski slope (also summer sledding ground) with a chairlift. Here is starting point of the path.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we go few meters back, where on the left side we notice the path in the forest and next to it signposts. When we step on the mentioned path, it at first leads us by the fence of luxurious villa, and soon starts gently ascending in the direction of right. From the left join two more paths, and we all the time stick to the right. And the path immediately starts ascending in zig-zags towards the summit. After we run into a bench, the path starts getting the appearance of light exposure. Few meters further we also get help from a wooden fence, which in additional two turns accompanies us to a small bridge and stone stairs. When on the latter we ascend, we are almost on the top. Here on the left there is a roof which offers a shelter in case of a storm, and we continue far right by the edge, which soon brings us to the top of a small ski lift. From here we look towards the southwest, where we notice ascending cart track (in the winter ski slope). When we reach it, it brings us to the upper station of the chairlift, where there is a snack bar with a terrace and information board.
We continue past the chairlift (carefully while it operates) uphill towards the southwest. Here the path leads us left and a little downwards to a viewpoint with a bench (there are few more similar on the path). From here we go again left, where the path by the edge of the peak in the direction of east brings us through a nice forest to monument of Arnold Rikli.
On the summit of Straža runs circular path (by trim trail), which continues behind the monument, and brings us back to the before mentioned cart track.
