Description of mountain hut:
Bodenalm is a picturesque mountain pasture at 1231 m in Gaitaler Alps in Austria in the vicinity of a lake Weißensee and a short distance west from a Fischeralm. The mountain pasture is situated in the area under Hermagor jurisdiction, thus the full name of the mountain pasture is Hermagorer Bodenalm. A nice hut stands in the middle of the Bodenalm, and it is open for guests from May until October.
Worth mentioning, along the trail to the Bodenalm stands a Tscherniheim Glashütte that reminds visitors of a rich history of glass production in this alpine area from 1621 to 1879 AD.
Hikers may continue from the Bodenalm to the top of a mountain Spitzegel and pass through two more mountain pastures along the way, i.e. Radnigeralm and Obervellacheralm (Slovene: Zgornja Belška planina).
