Description of mountain:
Veliki Klek or in German Großglockner, is with 3798 meters the highest peak of Austria and High Tauern. From the top that has a cross, there is a nice view of a larger part of Austria, and in good weather, the view reaches all the way to Slovenia, where we can see Julian Alps, Karawanks and part of Kamnik Savinja Alps.
The peak is because of relatively difficult access reachable only to experienced mountaineers with appropriate mountaineering equipment. Below the Grossglockner (Veliki Klek), is situated also one of the largest glaciers in Europe (Pastirica or German Pasterze), which is on some parts thick more than 160 meters.
Both the glacier and also the Grossglockner, are clearly visible from alpine road Großglockner-Hochalpenstraße, which leads 2572 meters high.
