Description of hut:
Kamniška koča na Kamniškem sedlu (1864 m) reigns over a picturesque high-mountain threshold between the imposing walls of Brana and Planjava. Thanks to its strategic location, it offers one of the finest passages between Kamniška Bistrica and Logarska dolina.
In the extended summer season, usually from June through mid-autumn, the hut welcomes hikers with open doors and warm hospitality. When winter grips the high peaks and the hut closes, a reliable winter room provides safe shelter for ski tourers and winter mountaineers.
A short three-minute walk from the hut leads to the saddle itself, revealing a breathtaking panoramic view. Far below lies the green jewel of Logarska dolina, where the mighty Rinka waterfall and the boldly perched Eagle’s Nest can be admired with the naked eye. On the opposite side, the view embraces the wild walls of Mrzla gora and the towering silhouettes of Brana and Planjava rising dramatically into the sky.
As one of the key stops on the legendary Slovenian Mountain Trail, the hut is a popular base for demanding high-mountain ascents. Despite its remote setting, supplies are well maintained by a cargo cableway that connects the saddle with the Kamniška Bistrica valley.
