Description of mountain hut:
Stausee Mooserboden is an artificial lake, which is situated at an altitude 2036 meters in the mountain group Glockner in High Tauern. A dam on the lake consists of two parts and between them is situated peak Höhenburg. First part named Moosersperre is 107 meters high and long 494 meters, and second part Drossensperre is high 112 meters and long 357 meters. And together they contain a good dober million cubic meters of concrete. Lake has capacity of 84.9 million cubic meters. Most of the water the lake gains from glacier Pasterze, which is situated below Grossglockner (Veliki Klek). Water from the lake Stausee Margaritze, which is situated by the mentioned glacier flows through 11.5 km long tunnel which connects both lakes. They were building the dam from the year 1947 to 1955. To the dam it is possible to get to also with a combination of bus transportation and inclined elevator.
