Rifugio Vandelli / Lago di Sorapiss

Description of mountain hut:
Lake Lago di Sorapiss is situated in the mountain group Sorapiss below the steep mountain walls of the highest peaks. From the lake, which is recognizable by its turquoise color is a nice view mainly on precipitous northern walls of the nearby peaks. Near the lake is also the mountain hut Rifugio Alfonso Vandelli. The mountain hut was the first time built already in the year 1821 and was located right next to the lake. In the year 1895 was mountain hut destroyed by avalanche, later they built new on other location, which is from the lake distant few minutes of walking.
