Description of mountain:
Sadnig or Hoher Sadnig is a relatively easy accessible and panoramic mountain in eponymous group Sadnig (in German Sadniggruppe), which is a south branch of group Goldberg (in German Goldberggruppe) in Kärnten.
Panorama from the ample peak, on which there is a bigger cross, includes numerous three-thousanders (e.g.. Sonnblick and Grossglockner).
Sadnig is situated at the juncture of three valleys of Mölltal (Asten, Großfragant and Kolmitzen) and at the same time, it is also the border point of three municipalities (Flattach, Mörtschach and Stall).
Etymological sources show interpretations, that the name of the mountain comes from Slovene from the word "zadnji" (last).
The mountain is popular among touring skiers, the recent surplus of fame it got from filming the movie Seven Years in Tibet (1997), starring Brad Pitt (on the mountain or on its ascent ridge, in the winter months they brought him by a helicopter). Among the Slovenes the mountain is besides other things also known for the trail Peaks of friendship (Vrhovi prijateljstva).
