Description of mountain:
Sernio (it. Monte Sernio / in Furlani language: Serenât or. Crede di Seregnò) is a 2187 m high mountain in Carnic Alps in Italy between the eastern river valley Aupa and the western valley Incaroja. The mountain is higher than all its neighboring peaks so its summit panorama is not obscured. Looking east, there is a queen of this mountain range: Creta Grauzaria. Behind Creta Grauzaria is Zuc dal Bor and further east the western part of Julian Alps with Montaž (it. Jof di Montasio) in front and Kanin mountain range a few degrees of ventage point south. To the west, the highest mountain of Carnic Alps, i.e. Monte Coglians / Hohe Warte is rising in front of Dolomites that are the last visible mountain group and thus touching the sky. Mountains to the south are lower. Amariana is there. North is different, with endless horizon of mountains with Hohe Taurn in the background. A bell stands on the mountaintop and a summit-cross a few 10 meters away. The summit-stamp is available only in the Grauzaria hut (it. Rifugio Grauzaria). The mountain is one of the 60 peaks on a 3-country-mountain trail called Vrhovi prijateljstva / Gipfel der Freundschaft / Cime dell'Amicizia. The mountain summit was reached for the first time in 1879 by two sisters Minetta and Annina Grassi. The easiest ascent is from the east, it has many climbing parts with difficulty UIAA I. The western ascent is a bit more difficult with UIAA II.
