Veliki Rog

Description of mountain:
Veliki Rog lies in the middle of the endless forests of the karst plateau Kočevski Rog and, at 1,099 meters above sea level, is its highest peak. The summit is forested but features a lookout tower that offers views across all of Slovenia in good weather. There is also a box with a logbook and stamp. Below the summit of Veliki Rog are the remains of the Auersperg sawmill, abandoned before World War II. In the immediate vicinity are other attractions: partisan hospitals (Baza 20, Jelendol), the Črmošnjiska jelka fir tree, the ice cave at Kunč, and post-war massacre sinkholes.
