Koča na planini Kuhinja - Gomiščkovo zavetišče na Krnu

Access to starting point:
From Tolmin we drive towards Kobarid or vice versa, but only to a spot, where signs for Kamno point us to the right (from the direction Kobarid left) over a bridge. A relatively narrow and ascending road we then follow in the direction of village Vrsno and higher Krn. From the village Krn we continue in the direction of the mountain hut Koča na planini Kuhinja. When we get to a large parking lot right next to the mountain pasture Kuhinja, we continue slightly left and for 200 meters we drive on a macadam road, and then we park on a free parking lot at the mountain hut Koča na planini Kuhinja, where there is enough space for approximately 40 cars.

Path description:
In front of the mountain hut Koča na planini Kuhinja we go right in the direction of Krn and we continue on at first gentle, after that on occasionally steeper path which leads us on an ample grazing slopes crisscrossed with some grazing fences. With nice view towards Krn, Batognica and other surrounding mountains we few times cross occasionally bad mountain road, and after approximately 40 minutes of walking from the starting point, we get to the former military hamlet on the mountain pasture Slapnik.
Above the mountain pasture we few times cross before the mentioned road, after that from the left joins the path from the end of the road or mountain pasture Zaslap. Further, we are moderately ascending mostly towards the right, and then the path at an altitude of approximately 1500 meters makes a left turn and starts ascending towards the left. Higher, we get to area named Leger, where the marked path splits into two parts (crossing isn't specifically marked).
We continue straight (right notch Krnska škrbina, Krn over Krnska škrbina, Batognica, lakes Krnska jezera...) and after few steps, we get to or by southwest ridge of Krn, from where a nice view opens up also towards Matajur, Stol and valley of river Soča. A little further from the left joins also a marked path from Drežnica, and we continue on the wide path (mule track), which is in numerous short zig-zags ascending by the mentioned ridge. Cottage Gomiščkovo zavetišče, we larger part of the ascent see in front of us and we are getting closer to it on the path which is becoming more and more rocky. Next follows some of walking by really nice views, and then we get to the cottage Gomiškovo zavetišče below the summit of Krn.
