Kočna - Žerjavec (Kavče) (south path)

Access to starting point:
From highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Lipce, where we turn left in the direction of Blejska Dobrava and Spodnje Gorje. Soon when we drive past the railway underpass, we are at the next crossroad, where we turn right - Bled, Kočna. At first, a zig-zag road ascends straight towards the west and soon at the left turn reaches the top or settlement Kočna. Our starting point is located on the left side of the road, few meters before the settlement sign. Beacause of continuous line we drive ahead past first houses, where on the right we notice a bus stop. Here we turn around and return back, almost to the turn, where we would descend back into a valley. We stop on a macadam parking lot.

Path description:
From the starting point, we go back on the road towards the settlement. After 250 meters, few meters before the bus stop on the right we go on a narrower side asphalt road on our left, which takes us past few houses uphill. When after the left turn road flattens and loses an asphalt pavement, it brings us on a larger meadow. Here we go left, towards abandoned building, past which we go on the right, in the forest. A wide path in the forest is slightly ascending, and soon at the crossing turns right. Further by moderately ascending paths we run into a bench, and a little higher (near the saddle between hills Žerjavec and Vrše) to the next crossing, where we get partial view on the other side of the hill in the direction towards Žirovnica. Here we go sharply left, and we step on a wide path, which is slightly ascending back in the direction from where we came from. After few 10 meters we ignore the right turn-off and we continue straight on the path uphill. It soon brings us to tv transmitter, past which we continue in the same direction towards top of the hill. Soon nice path through a small forest, over some smaller rocks brings us on the south edge of the upper ridge of Žerjavec. From here we have only few meters to a rocky shoulder with a bench, which represents peak, where we take a rest and enjoy the view on settlement Kočna, Poljanska Baba, Gorje with Pokljuka, Boršt, and on part of Karawanks on our right.
