Access to starting point:
From highway Ljubljana - Koper we go to the exit Brezovica, and then we continue driving in the direction Dobrova and Polhov Gradec. At the end of the village Gabrje we will get to a marked crossroad, where a road towards villages Belo, Osredek and Topol branches off to the right. Here we park on an appropriate place by the transformer, or already a little before on one of the appropriate places by the road.
Path description:
On the other side of the road as the transformer, we will notice hiking signposts for Topol, that point us on a rough forest road which ascends on the right side of one of the houses. The road at first is relatively steeply ascending and it quickly brings us to a smaller interesting cave where a well springs from. From here for some time we continue on the road, then when we step out of the forest, only few meters before the smaller hamlet we continue left on a marked footpath. The path ahead at first ascends over panoramic grassy ridge and then it returns into the forest, through which it is ascending next few minutes. Higher, we step on a grassy meadow and walk there to a macadam road. We continue on the road only for a short time, and then signs for Katarina point us to the left on a footpath which is further moderately ascending through the forest. Higher, the footpath for a short time entirely flattens, and then it brings us on the road which leads from Toško čelo towards Katarina. We follow the road to the left, and which in a gentle descent brings us to a smaller crossroad by which stands a cross.
At the cross, we continue left and on a gently sloping partly asphalt road we ascend to the village tavern, by which we notice the next hiking signposts. Here we continue right in the direction of Sveti Jakob and we continue on a relatively steep road, on which in few minutes we get to a bigger chapel.
At the chapel, we continue right (left Sveti Jakob) and we continue on still asphalt road, and which in 5 minutes of additional walking brings us to the church of St. Catherine.
From the church, we continue straight on a little worse road which starts gently descending. The road soon flattens, and then partly through the forest, and partly over a panoramic slopes brings us to a smaller crossroad by which a bench with table is situated. We continue straight on the right road which only few 10 meters ahead brings us to a chapel, by which there is a marked crossing. We go again straight and we continue on a wide cart track which ends at a well-settled log cabin. Mentioned log cabin we bypass on the left side and we continue on a steep mountain path, on which in 5 minutes of additional walking, we get to the top of Jeterbenk.
