Planina Blato - Debeli vrh (via planina Laz)

Access to starting point:
From highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Lesce and follow the road towards Bled and forward towards Bohinjska Bistrica. We continue driving towards the Lake Bohinj (Ribčev laz), where we come to the crossroad, where we continue right in the direction of Stara Fužina. In Stara Fužina at the crossroad at the chapel, we turn sharply left on an ascending road in the direction of the mountain pasture Blato, mountain pasture Vogar and valley Voje. The road ahead brings us to the spot, where the road toll or parking fee has to be paid, we follow it forward to the next crossroad, where we continue left (right Voje). Then we follow the road to the next crossroad (we drive for quite some time), where we turn sharply right in the direction of the mountain pasture Blato (straight mountain pasture Vogar). We follow this road to the parking lot above the mountain pasture Planina Blato.

Path description:
From the parking lot on the mountain pasture Blato we continue on a cart track which at the beginning of the parking lot branches off steep upwards. After a good ten minutes we come to a crossing where we go right in the direction of the mountain pasture Planina v Lazu. Already after few steps we are again at the crossing. Again we go right on a cart track. The path is moderately ascending and mostly runs through the forest. After an hour and a half of walking, the path on the mountain pasture Krstenica branches off to the right. We continue straight. The path here starts descending a little. We are soon on the mountain pasture. From the mountain pasture, we continue on a marked path, which goes over saddle Lazovški preval towards the mountain hut Vodnikov dom. The path at first ascending gently over a thin forest. The path soon comes out of the forest and ascends a little steeper. On Lazovški preval we leave blazes. We go left on a poorly beaten footpath. The path over dwarf pine passes on grassy slopes east from Debeli vrh. Here our path turns even more left towards the gully in Debeli vrh. At looking for the path we get help from cairns. The path crosses the gully and ascends on the south grassy slopes steep upwards. The path is ascending by nice view and soon brings us on a ridge. We follow wide ridge to the secondary peak of Debeli vrh. For many mountaineers this peak is the destination. If we want, we can continue on few meters higher western peak. The path there is difficult and exposed. The path at first descends into a gully, where we need to climb few meters, then on the other side of the gully, we steeply ascend on a slightly exposed slope to the ridge. The path on the ridge isn't demanding anymore and we reach the peak in few minutes. Planina Blato - Planina Laz 1:30, Planina Laz - Preval 1:00. Preval - summit 1:15.
