Access to starting point:
A) From highway Ljubljana - Maribor we go to the exit Velenje and we follow the road to the mentioned town. From Velenje we continue in the direction of Šoštanj. From Šoštanj we continue driving in the direction of Črna na Koroškem, but only to mountain pass Spodnje Sleme, where we turn left towards the mountain hut Andrejev dom. Over 100m we come on next crossroad, where we continue left to the mountain hut Andrejev dom in front of which we park.
B) From Koroška side we at first drive to Črna na Koroškem and we follow the road ahead towards Šoštanj. On the mountain pass Spodnje Sleme we turn right towards the mountain hut Andrejev dom. Further, we follow the description above.
Path description:
From the mountain hut Andrejev dom we continue on the road in the direction of the mountain hut Dom na Smrekovcu. The road quickly brings us on first crossroad, where we continue left upwards. Further, we follow the road which is for some time still ascending, and then it starts gently descending to the next crossroad, where we continue right. This road we soon leave because blazes point us to left on a cart track which is at first moderately, after that relatively steeply ascending. Next follows one hour of walking with some descends and ascents to a crossing, where from the right side joins the path from Črna na Koroškem. And only a little ahead we come on the road, where we continue in the direction of Smrekovec. From here ahead, all the way to a crossing, which we reach after approximately 30 minutes of additional walking, the road is slightly ascending. At the crossing, we leave the road and we go right on a wide footpath which in a moderate ascent, at first through the forest, after that over a grassy slope brings us to the mountain hut Dom na Smrekovcu.
From the hut, we continue on a path in the direction of Smrekovec. The path at first moderately ascends on a grassy slope, and then goes into the forest, where for a short time steeply ascends. The steepness quickly decreases and the path brings us to a crossing, where we continue slightly right in the direction of Smrekovec (left Komen). The path ahead leads us through a thinner forest relatively steeply upwards. After few minutes, we finally come out of the forest and the path flattens. Next follows only few minutes of easy walking, on panoramic upper ridge of Smrekovec to rocky pyramid, which we see on the top.
