Bitenjska planina - Kosmati vrh (Ratitovec)

Access to starting point:
We drive to Bohinjska Bistrica and we continue driving towards Soriška planina. After few kilometers of ascent we get to a crossroad, where the road towards Soriška planina branches off sharply to the right, and we continue straight in the direction of Železniki and Škofja Loka. Further, we drive for approximately 1 km, and then we get to a smaller crossroad, where a road towards Ribčeva planina branches off to the right. At the crossroad, there are signs for mountain pasture Ribčeva planina and Ratitovec. We park few meters before the crossroad on a macadam parking lot.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we at first walk to the nearby crossroad, by which we notice the first signs for Ratitovec.
We continue right on the road in the direction of Ratitovec, and at first still asphalt road quickly leads into a dense forest. Approximately 10 minutes we walk on the mentioned road, and then blazes point us slightly to the left on a marked footpath which continues on a grassy cart track, and that by the stream Bitenjski graben. Higher, we return on the road which we reach right at the smaller crossroad. We continue on the upper right road, on which we quickly get to the mountain pasture Ribčeva planina.
From Ribčeva planina we continue on the road, and a little higher it brings us to a crossroad, where we continue right. From the crossroad, we walk on the road for approximately 2 minutes, and then signs for a footpath on Ratitovec point us to the left on a marked cart track which higher changes into a little steeper mountain path, and which soon crosses a forest road and behind it flattens. On the other side of the road, we continue on a cart track, and then we quickly leave it because blazes point us to right on a forest path, which is at first moderately ascending, and then it gradually descends to the near forest road which we follow to the left. We continue the ascent on the road, and there in few minutes we walk to its end, where there is a larger parking lot and a turning point.
From the parking lot, we continue on a wide cart track which starts relatively steeply ascending through the forest. After approximately 10 minutes of walking cart track flattens, after that only a little further brings us to cottages on the mountain pasture Pečana.
Above the cottages on the mountain pasture Pečana we step out of the forest and the path quickly brings us to a smaller crossing, where we continue straight towards Vratca (right mountain hut Krekova koča na Ratitovcu). Further, we are gently ascending on the right edge of a grassy valley, and an increasingly panoramic path quickly brings us to a marked crossing on Vratica.
Here, the path branches off to the left towards the mountain pasture Klom, and to the right path towards Gladki vrh and forward towards the mountain hut Krekova koča. We continue straight and then after few meters slightly left in the direction of Kosmati vrh (straight downwards cirque Razor and Prtovč). The path ahead becomes less beaten and on some spots also hard to follow. Next follows a short descent, and then the path brings us by the edge of the cliffs, where it again starts moderately to occasionally steeply ascending. Higher, the path avoids the ridge a little to the left and it brings us out of the forest on panoramic upper slope of Kosmati vrh, where the footpath entirely vanishes. From here only a short ascent follows and almost pathless path in few steps it brings us to the summit.
