Access to starting point:
A) From the road Bača pri Modreju - Podbrdo, in the settlement Grahovo ob Bači, we turn in the direction towards the settlement Bukovo. First, we descend in two hairpin turns to the bridge over the river Bača, and then we start ascending towards Bukovo. Higher, we continue slightly left (slightly right plateau Šentviška planota), and from the next crossroad we continue sharply right in the direction of Cerkno (slightly left Zakojca). Next follows few 100 meters more of driving and we get to the center of the village Bukovo, where by the former inn Gostilna pri Urški, there is the beginning of the described path.
B) From the road Most na Soči - Idrija, at settlement Reka we drive in the direction of the settlement Bukovo and we are then ascending above Bukovška grapa. Higher slightly to the left, the road branches off towards the settlement Police, and we continue towards Bukovo. A winding road at an altitude 653 meters brings us to a crossroad, where we join the road from Cerkno, and we continue left and we drive to the center of the village Bukovo, where by the former inn Gostilna pri Urški, there is the beginning of the described path.
C) First, we drive to the center of Cerkno (to here from the road Idrija - Most na Soči, or from Gorenja vas and Žiri over the mountain pass Kladje, or from Zali Log through Davča...), and then we continue driving in the direction of Zakojca. Only few meters behind that, when we went in the direction of Zakojca, the road towards the village Zakriž branches off to the left, through which leads steep shortcut, and we continue on the road which continues along the stream Zapoška. Higher, the road leads through villages Trebenče, Gorje, and then after crossing of slopes, on the upper side we bypass village Zakriž, where joins already mentioned shortcut. A little further, the road turns even more to the right, and after few kilometers of crossing we get to the beginning of the village Jesenica, from where we follow the signs for settlement Bukovo. Next follows traversing of slopes of Kojca, and when we get to Bukovo, we drive also to the former inn Gostilna pri Urški, where the described path begins.
Path description:
From the former inn Gostilna pri Urški (Bukovo 9) we go on the road which leads in the direction of Cerkno, and from there we go after few 10 strides left, on a side road which ascends towards the houses of the upper part of the settlement. After a short ascent, we reach the crossroad at the hydrant, where we go right, and we bypass the house with house number Bukovo 23, on the left side. Above the mentioned house, we go sharply left and then we go also through the yard of the last house in the village. Next follows a short ascent to a smaller structure, on the top of which there is siren, and on the building we notice a blaze, which points us to the right. The path ahead leads us diagonally below the route of a high voltage power line, and then at the crossing we choose the left cart track which is further ascending diagonally towards the left. An old cart track which is because of the steep slopes in some parts already quite damaged and by which we notice some blazes, higher changes into at first a still quite wide forest footpath, and which is mainly in wet on some spots dangerous for slipping. The path is also higher ascending diagonally in the same direction, and gradually passes on the northern slopes of Kojca, where we get to an unmarked crossing.
From the crossing, we continue sharply right (straight - northern path which a little further joins the marked path from Zakojca) and we gradually stop ascending. Further, the path continues in crossing of occasionally even steeper and mainly in wet for slipping dangerous slopes towards the right. Next follows a little longer diagonal descent, so that from the northern slopes we pass on the southwest slopes, where the descent gradually ends and we again start gently to moderately ascending. After few more minutes of crossing, we reach the marked path from Orehek, and there we continue with the crossing. The path ahead leads us past the hunting observatory, behind it we cross a grassy slope, and on the other side of the mentioned slope, from the marked path, a new but unmarked path towards Kojca branches off to the left, which is about 15 minutes shorter as the old marked path (turn-off is marked).
Further, we are ascending on newly made path, which is easy to follow, but unmarked. The steep path which continues mostly on grassy slopes, makes few hairpin turns, and higher ascends diagonally towards the right and a little below the summit flattens. Next follows a shorter easy ascent and the path brings us to the famous pile on the top of Kojca, by which there is also a newer bivouac and inscription box.
