From highway Ljubljana - Maribor we go to the exit Šentrupert and we follow the road ahead towards the valley Logarska dolina. In the village Ljubno ob Savinji signpost for Smrekovec points us right. The road then runs through the center of the village, where we turn left again following the signs for Smrekovec. The road then brings us in Ljubenske Rastke, where at the crossroad near the church we continue left. We follow this road to the sharp right turn, in the middle of which macadam road branches off straight which we follow to mountain signposts for Žep, Robnik and hunting cottage. We park on one of the smaller parking lots by the road (more appropriate space is a little higher).
Path description:
First, with the help of wooden bridge we cross the stream Žep, after that signpost point us on at first quite overgrown and steep footpath. The path quickly passes into dense spruce forest, where continues steeply ascending. We soon step out of the forest on grassy slopes, where the footpath vanishes. Here we will a little higher, on a tree notice a blaze, which points us on a slope straight upwards. After a short ascent, we cross the cart track and the path brings us to the ruins of former farm.
Further, we continue on a poorly visible but marked path, which is ascending parallel with a little wider cart track. Higher, the path joins the cart track, and it immediately splits. We continue sharply left, on a little steeper cart track which higher changes into a footpath, and it soon brings us to a forest road which we follow to the right. After few minutes of walking on the road, we come out of the forest, where in front of us we notice ample mountain pasture Počka planina.
From the mountain pasture, we continue ahead on the road, and it quickly brings us to a crossroad, where we continue left in the direction of Komen and Travnik (right partisan hospital). The road which is further gently ascending, then brings us to the next crossroad, where we continue left towards the hunting cottage Robnik.
From the hunting cottage, we continue towards the south, on the road which for a short time slightly descends, and after a shorter ascent joins the marked path from Ljubno ob Savinji.
We continue sharply right on a marked cart track which starts ascending steeper through the forest. Cart track higher brings us out of the forest on quite overgrown clearing (such is also the path), and then turns left and it brings us on a panoramic grassy ridge, from which a wonderful view opens up on Ojstrica and part of plateau Dleskovška planota. We continue the ascent by the edge of panoramic grassy slope, all the way until path brings us to a smaller saddle by which we notice a cross and memorial plaque. Next follows a short descent and the path brings us to shepherd cottages on the mountain pasture Mali Travnik.
From the mountain pasture, we continue slightly left from the marked path which leads towards the mountain hut on Travnik. A little left from the mentioned path we will notice a poorly beaten footpath which starts ascending on an indistinct and gentle south ridge of Mali Travnik. This poorly visible and from the mountain pasture ahead unmarked footpath we follow all the way to the top, and we reach it after 5 minutes of walking from the mountain pasture.
