Access to starting point:
A) From Slovenj Gradec or valley Mežiška dolina we drive to Dravograd, and then still before the bridge over the river Drava we turn left in the direction of settlements Črneče and Libeliče. Further, we at first cross river Meža, and then past HE Dravograd we get to Dravograd lake, where we drive on first macadam road left, and by its beginning we park on a macadam parking lot.
B) We drive to Dravograd, and then we continue driving towards Slovenj Gradec. Soon after the bridge over the river Drava, we turn right in the direction of settlements Črneče and Libeliče. Further, we at first cross river Meža, and then past HE Dravograd we get to Dravograd lake, where we drive on first macadam road left, and by its beginning we park on a macadam parking lot.
Path description:
From the starting point, we continue on the macadam road in the direction of Šteharski vrh. We soon get to the right hairpin turn, from which a nice view opens up on Dravograd lake. A little further, we get to a crossroad, where we go left and then the road flattens and leads us through a larger plain, where on the right we see forested Šteharski vrh. At the end of the plain we get to the settlement Dobrova pri Dravogradu, where at the crossroads we follow the signs for Šteharski vrh and Sveti Križ.
At one of the houses in the settlement we continue left on a macadam road, on which we diagonally ascend to a water catchment, and after the water catchment we continue right upwards. Next follows a short steeper ascent, crossing of an asphalt road, and then we already get to the church of the Holy Cross, from which a beautiful view opens up.
From the church, we descend on stairs to the inscription box, and then we continue on the asphalt road in the direction of Šteharski vrh. Higher, the asphalt ends, and the road leads us past few more smaller crossroads, where we follow the signs for already several times mentioned summit. A quite panoramic road, a little further from the homestead Lagojet, gradually passes into the forest, where we go right on a cart track. After a short ascent from the left also a marked path from the farm Lipovnik joins, and the path a little ahead brings us by the upper edge of a panoramic meadow, from which a nice view opens up towards Uršlja gora, Kamnik Savinja Alps and Peca. Above the marked part path passes into the forest and is further ascending on and by east to southeast ridge of Šteharski vrh. Next follows some ascent on part, which was in December 2017 heavily damaged by strong winds, therefore in some parts we need to make few detours left or right from the marked path. In the last part, the path flattens and by temporary view on Koralpe, brings us on 1018 meters high peak.
