Globoka dolina - Veliko Kladivo

Access to starting point:
From highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Tržič (Ljubelj), and then we continue driving on the highway towards Tržič. Here just before the gas station, we turn right and we descend in the center of Tržič. We continue driving on a little narrower road which through gorge Dolžanova sotestka brings us to the village Dolina and a little higher to Jelendol. Here we continue left (straight on the bottom road Medvodje) and we continue driving on at first still asphalt road in the direction of the mountain pastures Kofce, Šija and Pungrat. The road then soon becomes a macadam and starts ascending steeply on an occasionally quite rough road. Higher, the road avoids riverbed of the stream Dolžanka and gradually brings us in a little less dense forest. Here we will approximately 50 meters before the smaller wooden cottage, which we see on the left side, notice the beginning of the mountain path which leads towards Kofce. We park on one of the many appropriate parking spaces by the road.

Path description:
At the starting point, we notice a red mountain signpost with the caption "Kofce čez Dovžanko", which points us left on a marked footpath which ascends through a lane of a dense forest. Already after a shorter ascent, we step on a cart track which we still follow through the forest to the left. Cart track soon entirely flattens, and then crosses some successive springs. Next follows a short descent, and then through a smaller wooden bridge we cross the stream Dolžanka, after which we already step on the eponymous mountain pasture.
Immediately after the small bridge, we continue right in the direction of Kofce and we continue on a little steeper cart track which we follow approximately 5 minutes, and then blazes point us slightly right on a footpath which is further ascending parallel with the mentioned cart track. The path higher turns a little towards the right and gradually starts ascending steeper and steeper. Higher, we cross a lane of young forest and then we return into a dense forest, where the path for few minutes very steeply ascends. After a few minute steep ascent we step on the road, and we follow it to the right and there we walk only approximately 20 meters and then signs for Kofce point us to the left on ascending path. Some 10 meters higher, from the right joins the path from higher starting point, and we continue slightly left and after few minutes of additional walking, we get to the chapel below the mountain pasture Kofce.
The marked path mentioned chapel bypasses on the right side, and a little higher brings us on a wide cart track, on which we walk to a grazing fence. When we cross a grazing fence we also step out of the forest, and we continue on a little poorly visible path, on which in less than 10 minutes of additional walking, we get to the mountain hut Dom na Kofcah.
From the mountain hut, we continue in the direction of Veliki vrh and Kladivo on at first a little poorly visible path which starts ascending through a panoramic meadow. After 15 minutes of walking from the mountain hut Dom na Kofcah we get to a nice viewpoint by the cross.
The path then slightly descends and in few minutes brings us to steeper slopes of Košuta. The path then ascends through a lane of dwarf pines, where it brings us to a crossing. We continue right (straight Veliki vrh) on the path which already after few meters joins the path without the blazes from the mountain pasture Šija. We continue left upwards on the path which ascends steeply and it quickly brings us to an exposed passage. Without fixed safety gear we cross a short, but crumbly and slightly exposed ledge after which we go in a lane of dwarf pines. The path ahead ascends through a short lane of dwarf pines, and then continues on a side ridge of Košuta. More panoramic and pretty steep path higher joins the ridge path.
We continue right in the direction of Kladivo (left Veliki vrh, straight upwards Kofce gora 10 strides) on a path which starts slightly descending by the edge of the ridge. Very panoramic ridge path which runs on and by the main ridge is ahead on some spots slightly exposed, but when it is dry passages don't cause problems. A little further, the path gets close to indistinct summit (Malo Kladivo) to which brings us a short steep ascent.
From Malo Kladivo the path starts descending and it quickly brings us on a smaller saddle between the both peaks of Kladivo. Here from the right joins easy unmarked path from the mountain pasture Šija (option of return), and we continue straight on the path which starts ascending steeper on the upper slope of Kladivo. After 10 minutes steep and for slipping dangerous walking, the path brings us on a panoramic peak.
