Gornji Grad - Lepenatka (on ridge)

Access to starting point:
From the valley Savinjska dolina or from Kamnik through mountain pass Črnivec, we drive to Gornji Grad, where on a settled parking lot by the main bus stop we also park.

Path description:
From the main bus stop in Gornji Grad, we continue by the main road towards the mountain pass Črnivec and Kamnik, and we walk there approximately 5 minutes, or to a crossroad, where narrower asphalt road towards Lenart branches off to the right.
The path ahead leads us on the mentioned road which is at first ascending gently over ample meadows. A little higher the road passes into a valley of the stream Kanolščica, through which we are then for quite some time gently to moderately ascending. At all crossroads we follow the road on the bottom of the valley, and after approximately 1 hour of walking from the starting point, we notice signposts, which point us to the left on a footpath which ascends below the power line poles. After few 10 meters we cross a torrent, and then the path starts ascending steeply over occasionally quite overgrown slopes. Higher, the path leads over short partly demanding part, where landslide swept away few meters of a marked path. The path after that returns into a dense forest, through which is short time steeply ascending, and then it flattens and brings us on the nearby road. We follow the road to the left, and we walk there to the first turn, where at the end of it, we continue left on a marked footpath, on which we quickly ascend to homestead Knebovšek. We walk through the yard, and then we continue in the direction of Lepenatka and Rogatec. A little above the farm the road changes into a cart track, and it turns right in the forest, where crosses slopes towards the right. A little further, we cross slightly exposed torrent, after that on occasionally overgrown footpath we get to a forest road. We follow the road to the right and past the chapel in a gentle descent, we walk to a marked crossing. From the crossing, we continue in the direction of St. Lenart and we continue on a wide cart track, on which in 3 minutes of additional walking, we get to the already mentioned small church.
From the church, we continue left in the direction of saddle Kal and Lepenatka (straight Zgornji Špeh and Veliki Rogatec) on the path which ascends above cart track. After a short ascent from the left joins few minutes shorter path, which bypasses the church of St. Lenart. We continue straight and after a further shorter ascent we step on a macadam road which we follow to the right, and there we walk to the nearby crossroad.
From here we continue left in the direction of Lepenatka (straight saddle Kal and Lepenatka and Rogatec over the mentioned saddle) and we continue the ascent on a worse macadam road which quickly brings us on a small saddle between Ugovški vrh on the left and Lepenatka on the right. Here we continue right towards the nearby hunting observatory, and the path behind it becomes more overgrown (this is the case mainly in the summer time). The path ahead leads us through a lane of fern, and then it gradually passes on the ridge of Lepenatka, where it starts ascending steeper by the edge of the forest. Further, we are ascending by the edge of the ridge and the path is offering increasingly beautiful views on Menina planina and Kranjska reber. A little higher we leave the last trees, and relatively steep path quickly brings us on the upper ridge, where from the right side joins the path from the saddle Kal. Here we continue straight and with a view on the nearby Rogatec and the main part of Kamnik Savinja Alps, we quickly get to the top of Lepenatka.
