Gornji Petrovci (Dol) - Sveti Benedikt (Kančevci)

Access to starting point:
We drive to Murska Sobota, and then we follow the signs for Hodoš. In the settlement Gornji Petrovci we turn left towards Kuzma, and then after good 100 meters we go right in the direction of the church of the Holy Trinity. We park only about 20 meters ahead on the settled parking lot at the recycling spot.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we return to main road Murska Sobota - Hodoš and we carefully cross it, and then we continue in the direction towards Križevci. We at first walk on a sidewalk, and then we go past the railway station and then on an overpass across the railway track. On the other side of the overpass we continue straight and we continue walking on an asphalt road (here on some maps the path continues right). Next follows a relatively short ascent, and then we get to the beginning of the settlement Križevci, where we go right on a side road, on which continues a marked path. The path ahead leads us on a narrower asphalt road, where we go past few houses, and after a short descent, we go right and we continue walking on a worse macadam road. A little further, the road turns sharply left and then we go past few more houses. Behind the houses, we reach an asphalt road, and at a smaller crossroad, we go right (to the left we return to the main road). Again follows a relatively short ascent, and before some houses at the smaller crossroad we go left. We bypass the nearby house on the right side, and behind the house we continue on a cart track which leads us through a larger panoramic meadow. Through the meadow we cross a slope, and then we slightly descend to an unmarked crossing.
We continue on the left cart track which on the other side of the meadow passes into the forest, where we again notice the blazes. A little before we reach the nearby road we go from the cart track right on a narrow cart track which ascends to the nearby homestead, where there is often an unleashed dog.
At the homestead buildings we continue straight, and at the end of the homestead we go a little right and then into the forest, where we continue on a marked forested cart track. Cart track soon changes into a footpath which is poorly beaten and is more and more similar to marked pathless terrain. For some time we carefully follow the blazes, and then the footpath widens into a cart track which brings us to numerous antennas. Here at the nearby house we continue left (right - center of the village Kuštanovci), and then in few minutes we get near the tower on Kamenek, which is situated few steps from the path, and because of the field we can't go to the tower.
From Kamenek we continue on the road which starts descending, and when after few minutes the descent ends, at a smaller crossroad we continue right on a side road which continues through the forest, and we walk there to the spot, where few 10 meters in front of us, we notice a residential house. Here we go slightly left, where by the edge of the forest continues the marked path, and when only a little further we reach an asphalt road, we go sharply left. Further, we walk on a narrower asphalt road which continues between the forest on the left and a field on the right, the road we soon leave because blazes lead us left into the forest, where the footpath vanishes, so we carefully follow the blazes. Higher, we cross the asphalt road which connects Moščanci and Križevci, and we continue on a marked path which continues through the forest. The path ahead gradually starts descending, and we descend for approximately 50 altitude meters. Lower, we reach a smaller pond, behind which on a cart track which leads us past the hunting observatory we lightly ascend to another asphalt road which we reach at a smaller crossroad.
The asphalt road we only cross and on the other side, we continue on a wider marked cart track which at first continues through the forest, and when by the vineyard we leave the forest, it changes into a macadam road. We continue with nice views, and at the nearby house, the road becomes asphalted. Next follows a walk on the mentioned road which a little ahead crosses also a lane of a forest and then it brings us to the next houses in the settlement, where at the smaller crossroad we go slightly left.
When we reach the main road Gornji Petrovci - Kančevci we continue right and then we quickly get to the settlement Kančevci, where we few minutes continue by the main road. Further, we on the right side bypass the cemetery, and when we get closer to the church of St. Benedikt, blazes from the road point us to the left, where then through a lane of a forest in a moderate ascent we get to the church of St. Benedikt, which is situated on 358 meters high hill.
