Access to starting point:
Gračnica is a scattered settlement by the river Savinja in municipality Laško in the eastern Slovenia. Through the settlement runs a railway line from Zidani Most to Celje. On the road the settlement is accessible from Rimske Toplice, which is located between Zidani Most and Celje. From the bus stop in Rimske Toplice we go across Savinja to the railway station and then right on the road towards Jurklošter. After approximately two kilometers of driving along Savinja, we get to the turn-off of the road and we go right across the bridge over the stream Gračnica. After approx 300 meters we get to a larger parking lot before the former factory of woodwork, now a private company. Here we can park and we go uphill on foot.
Path description:
Our trip leads on a marked hiking path, which is managed by PD Rimske Toplice, it runs from the railway station in Rimske Toplice to Veliko Kozje. The initial part of the mountain path on the asphalt road along Savinja we will skip, because our starting point is located before the former factory of woodwork in Gračnica. From the starting point, we go uphill past the factory on the asphalt road which is rising steeply to the first houses, and then the asphalt road soon turns into a forest road. We all the time follow the road in accordance with blazes and signposts all the way to a cross higher on the saddle, where we turn sharply to the right on a forest path. When we come out of the forest, the path runs past the farm Mlinarič, where on a meadow higher first views open up towards Malič, Šmohor and Gozdnik. We continue on a cart track through the forest, almost on a contour line, and then we soon go sharply left in accordance with signposts steeply uphill on a narrower path. When the steepness decreases, we get to a crossing, where Lisca shyly shows up. Here the path towards Lovrenc branches off to the left, and we continue to the right on the ridge towards the summit of our trip. After 15 minutes we are on the summit, which doesn't have much of a view, therefore we continue on the ridge ahead, where soon from the left joins also the path from Radeče. And a little ahead, we get to a beautiful vantage point on the top of the precipitous wall, where we get to inscription book, stamp and to views towards Kum, Kopitnik, Mrzlica, Šmohor, Malič, Alps, and all in between to Boč and Donačka gora.
