Access to starting point:
We leave Gorenjska highway at exit Hrušica and then at the crossroad we continue right towards Jesenice. We follow the road to first roundabout where we go left towards Hrušica. The road starts ascending and at the crossroad on the top of the slope, we turn left on a priority road. After approximately 200 meters of further driving, we will on the right side notice the parking lot. The parking lot is marked also with sign „Parkirišče Ferata Dobršnik“.
Path description:
From the parking lots we continue by the main road to the next crossroad where the signpost „Ferata Dobršnik“ points us right. Further, we walk through the village on an ascending road and follow the signs for ferrata. Higher in the village, the signpost points us to the left where we then also slightly descend. At the last houses where also the asphalt ends we then continue right upwards on a cart track.
Further, we are ascending through the forest parallel with the stream Dobršnik and the cart track passes into a footpath. At the crossings, we are choosing left path, and we also get help from signposts and some blazes. The footpath then crosses the stream to the left side and by the stream soon brings us to information boards where there is the beginning of a secured climbing path Ferata Dobršnik. To here where by the path there is also the first waterfall, we will need approximately 20 minutes.
The secured path at first ascends diagonally and then runs on the left side of the gorge above the stream. After a little steeper ascent by the steel cable, the path crosses the stream on the right side. Further, the path runs on the right side of the gorge right above the stream and on some spots we also get help from some stemples.
The path then brings us on less demanding terrain, which isn't secured. We at first walk on a riverbed of the stream and then the path avoids the stream to the right side. The path quickly again gets closer to the stream and it brings us to the next secured part.
The path starts a little steeper ascending and we again get help from few stemples. Here we have a nice view towards the nearby waterfall by which we are ascending. For some time we are still ascending by the stream and then we continue right where the secured path soon ends. Next follows an ascent through the forest in short hairpin turns, which brings us on a wider path where there is also a marked crossing.
To the right we can descend towards the starting point, and left we can continue towards Rogarjev rovt. If we continue left towards Rogarjev rovt, after a short ascent at Tončkov stolp (miniature Aljaž turret by the path) a footpath branches off to the left on which we can view another part of gorge Dobršnik.
Ferrata is moderately demanding. In the lower part it is graded with grade B, and in the upper part it is slightly harder. As the path runs through gorge, the rock can be often wet, therefore a little more caution is needed. The path is from 31th October to 1st April closed.
Estimated time of climbing is 1h 15min, but more experienced will need much less time. For the descent we will need approximately 30 minutes.
