Koprivna (Šumel) - Govca (Olševa) (via Sveti Jakob)

Access to starting point:
A) We drive to Črna na Koroškem, and then continue driving in the direction of Koprivna and Solčava. We then drive through the valley along the river Meža, and when we reach the crossroad where the road to Solčava branches off to the left, the described path starts. We park somewhere nearby at a suitable place by the road.
B) We drive to Solčava, and then follow the signs for Črna na Koroškem. This is followed by an ascent to the pass Spodnje Sleme, from there a descent towards Črna na Koroškem and Koprivna. When we arrive in the valley at the crossroad with the road leading from Koprivna towards Črna na Koroškem, we are at the beginning of the described path. We park somewhere nearby at a suitable place by the road.

Path description:
From the starting point we go on the road in the direction of Solčava, Podolševa and Logarska dolina, the signpost which used to be next to the road signs is now hidden nearby. The path first leads past the homestead Šumel, before the next houses we go slightly right onto a cart track which through a meadow passes into the forest and starts to ascend diagonally. Then follows a few minutes of diagonal ascent, then the cart track flattens and a little further even slightly descends. After a short descent we reach another cart track, which we follow to the right, at a few crossings continuing straight. When we arrive at the wooden cross we turn sharply right and then cross the slopes towards the east. Then follow a few smaller crossings where we go straight, the cart track on an indistinct ridge making a semicircular turn back towards the west. Here the path brings us out of the forest, to the church of St. Jakob only a shorter walk and crossing of two grazing fences remain.
From the church we easily descend past three chapels to the homestead Mežnar, where we choose the slightly left road along which on the left side we bypass some structures. After the residential house the road changes into a cart track and crosses panoramic slopes. A little further, after crossing a grazing fence, a parallel cart track also joins from the right, we continue straight and gradually start ascending more steeply on a wide cart track, which at crossings we follow straight, or in the direction of the wider cart track. Higher the cart track flattens, at the crossing of cart tracks and roads we continue slightly left so we continue the path on the worse road, along which we quickly reach a wider macadam road, which we reach at Zgornje Sleme.
At the indistinct saddle Zgornje Sleme we join the marked path from Spodnje Sleme, we continue right and follow the signs for Olševa. We bypass the nearby pasture on the left side, above it temporarily returning to the cart track, from the cart track we go left onto the marked path which starts steeply ascending through the forest. Then follows a longer quite steep ascent on the path ascending through the forest, which also leads us past a trough with water that dries up on dry days and past a natural cavity. The path flattens when we reach the ridge of Lepi vrh, but after a few minutes it again starts ascending more steeply, this time towards the panoramic Odenični hriber. When we reach the mentioned peak we have before us a gentle path which leads us along the panoramic ridge of Olševa. At Gladki vrh an abandoned path also joins from the left, starting at the homestead Zgornji Ošovnik in Podolševa, after Visoka peč follows some descent to the marked crossing where the marked path from Zadnji travnik, or the mountain hut on the farm Kumer, joins from the right.
We continue towards Olševa on the path which again starts ascending, during the ascent crossing a few short slopes mainly exposed to slipping when wet. Higher the sparse forest ends and the increasingly panoramic path brings us in a few minutes of further walking to the highest peak of Olševa.
