Kranjski Rak - Chapel of Marija Snežna (Velika planina) (footpath)

Access to starting point:
A) First, we drive to Kamnik, and then we continue driving in the direction of the mountain pass Črnivec. Only few 100 meters before the mentioned mountain pass we notice signs for Kranjski Rak, which point us sharply left on a narrow and at first also quite steep road. The road higher flattens and then brings us to mountain pass Volovljek, where near the inn Kranjski Rak we also park (parking in front of the inn is only for guests).
B) From Gornji Grad we drive towards Kamnik, after that only few 100 meters after mountain pass Črnivec we continue right in the direction of Kranjski Rak. Further, we follow the description above.
C) From the valley Savinjska dolina at first we drive to Luče, and then we continue driving towards Kamnik. When we come on the mountain pass Volovljek we park on an appropriate place by inn Kranjski Rak (parking in front of the inn is only for guests).

Path description:
From the mountain pass Volovljek we continue towards the west on a macadam road in the direction of Velika planina, mountain huts Jarški dom, Črnuški dom, Domžalski dom and Dom na Kisovcu. The road at first leads by the pasture, and then passes into the forest, where a marked footpath branches off to the left. We continue on the mentioned path, which at first ascends a little steeper through the forest, then it joins the cart track, where the path flattens. Few minutes we walk on a cart track, after that on a pleasant forest path, which higher descends to a macadam road. We reach the road right at the crossroad, where to the left the road continues towards the mountain ht Dom na Kisovcu, in the direction of straight after few 10 meters we get to a large parking lot Rakove ravni (road continues ahead towards Marjaninie njive, parking lot Ušivec, mountain pasture Dol...), and to the right leads the road back towards the mountain pass Volovljek.
We continue by crossing the road which leads towards Kisovec and then we walk parallel with the road which leads towards the large parking lot and forward towards the mountain pasture Marjanine njive. A short time we walk by the edge of a meadow, and then the path passes into the forest, where the footpath gradually becomes better visible and blazes also shows up again (part of the path from the crossing of the road and to the forest is poorly marked or it isn't at all). After few minutes of walking through the forest we get to the spot, where we cross an electric fence, and behind it we step on dead-end branch of the road which leads to the nearby holiday cottage. When the road ends path returns into the forest, and it starts ascending steeper. Higher, we reach the cart track which leads from Marjanine njive towards Gojška planina, and we follow it to the left and there we walk to watering place for animals on the mountain pasture Gojška planina.
Watering place we bypass on the left side, and then we go slightly left (right upper part of Gojška planina) on an ascending footpath. Pleasant and more and more scenic path is ascending on an ample grazing area, and then crosses one of the macadam roads. On the other side of the road, the path moderately ascends, after that gets close to the road which leads towards the mountain huts Jarški dom and Domžalski dom. Before we step on the road we continue left, and after few 10 strides of additional walking, we get to the mountain hut Jarški dom.
Mentioned mountain hut we bypass on the left side, and then we continue the ascent on a wide path, that is gently ascending through a thin forest. Already after few minutes, the path towards the mountain hut Črnuški dom branches off to the left, and we continue straight and follow a wide path all the way to the mountain hut Domžalski dom na Mali planini.
The path then descends into a smaller valley, where we again step on a wide path (almost road). We continue right and we follow the path to a poorly marked crossing, where the path in the direction of shepherd hut Gradiščkovi branches off to the left. We continue straight on a wide cart track in the direction of "chapel and Zeleni Rob". After few minutes of additional walking right at first downwards path towards the chapel of Marija Snežna branches off, which we can see in front of us for some time. Only a short ascent follows and the path brings us to the mentioned chapel.
