A) From Nova Gorica, we drive through Solkan in the direction of Bovec, and then at the last traffic light crossroad, already at the exit from Solkan we continue straight towards Lokve (left Bovec, right bypass road). We continue driving to the village Trnovo, where at the beginning of the village at the building of Gozdno gospodarstvo we turn right in the direction of hamlet Rijavci (marked). We follow the main road through Rijavci, we continue past Kopitnik and on a macadam to the forestry cottage V Krnici, where again on the asphalt at the crossroad we turn right. We continue few ten meters to a large clearing on the left (loading logs), where we can park. In case if on the mentioned clearing they are loading logs we continue driving past the hairpin turn and we park on first appropriate place by the road.
B) From Tolmin we drive to the beginning of Solkan and at the first traffic light crossroad we turn left towards Lokve (continuation as at description from Nova Gorica).
Path description:
From the starting point, we continue on the asphalt road past the hairpin turn. The road then flattens and after approximately 200 meters sign on a pole points us sharply right on a worse cart track. Cart track which runs almost parallel with the road we follow only a short time because new signpost on a tree points us left on a marked path towards Veliki rob. (At this spot, a shortcut from the road also joins the path which is marked with a cairn and it shortens a turn on a cart track). The path at first for a short time moderately ascends, and then on a well-beaten and marked path we are only slightly ascending through the forest. When new a sign points us to the right towards the ridge the path starts again ascending steeper and we soon reach the ridge from where a view opens up on Vipava valley, and from the right path from Vitovlje joins. At the crossing, we continue left towards the summit, which we already see in front of us. The path ahead from the ridge turns a little to the left and avoids steep cliffs. Next follows an ascent through a short lane of a forest and the path brings us on the upper slope of the mountain, from where we have to the top only few 10 strides.
We can extend the tour to Kucelj (1 hour), or to the mountain hut Koča Antona Bavčarja on Čaven (1h 45 min).
